General Electric Elano NDT Tech III - XRAY in Beavercreek, Ohio

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Complies with and supports all Elano/GEAE policies as listed in the Elano Policy Manual and the “Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment” guide.

  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency or willing to take classes in: Blueprint Reading, Level 3 Evaluation Training (required for qualification), Problem Solving (7 step or 6 sigma), Team Building, SPC (Video Training minimum).

  • Thorough knowledge of the NDE method primarily working in and it’s limitations (written, practical and physical examinations required for qualification/certification).

  • Unison manufacturing processes (i.e. Brazing, Welding & Casting) and defects associated with these processes as they relate to NDT.

  • Understanding of written instructions, procedures, and specifications related to the applicable NDT process(es)

  • Performs regular preventative maintenance.

  • Will train and work with all areas of the Cell to run other processes as needed.

  • Operates machine(s) in a prescribed safe manner.

  • Performs regular preventative maintenance. Ability to verify calibration.

  • Maintains eQuals requirements.

  • Use standards shops measuring devices (calipers and micrometers).

  • Review, understand and follow routers, procedure, specifications, and other instructions for completeness to perform operations.

  • Ensures all requires company paperwork is completed in time specifications and accurately.

  • Ability to read, understand, and fully interpret blueprints. Ability to read, understand, and fully interpret inspection sheets.

  • Produce error free products and identify revision levels.

  • Ability to work established manufacturing guidelines and meet production goals.

  • Understand safety and machining hazards and have a basic understanding of processes within home cell.

  • Ability to Add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals, and whole numbers. Calculate algebraic variables and formulas and have a basic understanding of trigonometry (i.e., sine, cosine, and tangent formulas).

  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in a standardized situation.

  • Able to read safety rules in the use and maintenance of shop equipment. Able to read related technical material and apply principles to daily operations (this includes reading and interpreting blueprints). Able to read and complete forms

  • Able to work under general direction with minimal supervision. Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Be able to review routers, procedures, specification, and other instructions for completeness and instructions to perform operation.

  • Must be Certified as a Level II NDT Technician for a minimum of 4 years; preference given for X-ray certification.

  • No active disciplinary actions for internal candidates.

  • Must have a current IRRSP (Industrial Radiographer Radiation Safety Program) certification or must be able to attain.

  • Must be able to show four years progressive manufacturing experience in non-destructive testing, and proficient in NDT theory.

  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively. Lift with necessary assistance occasionally lift over 50 pounds.

  • Able to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa).

  • Able to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)).

  • Able to wear hearing protection in areas over 90 dBa.

  • Process part(s) in accordance with procedures and technical instructions to evaluate for weld, braze and/or casting discontinuities exceeding requirements specified.

  • Work with X-ray generating equipment (X-ray). Set-up, operate, calibrate and perform Process Control Checks on NDE equipment by following established instructions and record results.

  • Develop techniques for approval (X-ray), interpret, evaluate and report evaluation results as required and outlined.

  • Fill out required logs and statistical data sheets (as required).

  • Clean equipment and ensures it is working properly, and clean and maintain work area as needed.

  • Maintain required job skills and knowledge of requirements (including. procedures, specifications, etc.)

  • Provide and maintain proper reports, records and letters in regards to all aspects of the position and ancillary responsibilities.

  • Help coordinate and carryout ongoing training of resident NDE/NDT personnel at all levels. This includes ensuring adequate personnel resources are mentored and maintained in order to support current and future production needs. Desired Characteristics: Maintain NDE/NDT Level III Certifications in Radiographic Inspection. Other NDE/NDT NAS/410 sanctioned and approved NDE/NDT certifications considered a plus but, are not required for this position.
