General Electric Additive Repair Engineer – Laser Metal Deposition Specialist in Bari, Italy

Job Description Summary

The person in this role is expected to perform Advanced Repair Development with Additive Technologies within the Apulia Repair Development Centre (ARDC) located in Bari.

The role will be focused on the development of Advanced Repair applications based on Laser Metal Deposition technology.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Contribute to definition of the technology roadmap to develop and industrialize repair applications identified by GE Avio business needs.

  • Contribute to the definition of DOEs to identify optimal process parameters.

  • Contribute to the definition of trials on specimens and components to demonstrate repair feasibility and early industrialization.

  • Supervise and execute DOEs and trials ensuring activity completion on time and on quality.

  • Collaborate with Maintenance and EHS to ensure maximum availability of the Laser Metal Deposition equipment.

  • Develop and maintain structured know-how of Laser Metal Deposition Technology to promote its use across the company as a distinctive technology to address business needs; Promote the concurrence with GE Avio Repair Stations and with other global GE Aviation Repair Stations to ensure smooth transition from development to industrialization phase of advanced repairs.

  • Support the Repair Stations on possible technical issues deriving from the application of Laser Metal Deposition Technology in the shop environment.

  • Use of design tools: 2D / 3D CAD as Unigraphics, and in-house SWs.

  • Use of CAD/CAM software as required for Laser Deposition equipment operations.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Engineering from a recognized University, Mechanical/Aerospace/Material Engineering are preferred.

  • Sense of ownership, attitude for collaboration, proactivity.

  • Technical Accountability/Ownership.

  • Technical program management skills;

  • Good technical skills.

  • Proficiency in Italian and English language.

  • EU work permit.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Passionate about fielded aviation engines.

  • Passionate about mechanical design and advanced technology development.

  • Good materials and special processes knowledge.

  • Previous experience in operating Laser Deposition equipment.

  • Previous experience in Aerospace Design and/or Repair Engineering

  • CAD tools knowledge
