General Electric Sourcing Specialist in Barcelona, Spain

Job Description Summary

Responsible for supporting Sourcing/Procurement processes related to Service Spare Parts and Indirect Procurement. This role will solve complex problems, execute objectives and support short-term/long-term business goals. A key element of this position will be to ensure business strategies are followed for fulfillment, quality and cost to ensure customer orders are delivered on time; are of high quality and provide cost savings to the business.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify/validate ideal supplier panel for commodities under his/her responsibility. Follow PDCA cycle to optimize supplier performance from RFQ to the start of sales.

  • Tender to the supplier panel based on precise specification/qualification and ensure competitive bidding.

  • Make award decision based on qualification, competitive price and QCDM information.

  • Support strategic sourcing in year over year parts requoting based on commodity strategy.

  • Identify technical and commercial opportunities for cost saving with suppliers.

  • Meet annual cost reduction Kpi for his/her scope of parts.

  • Generate cost avoidance by re-negotiating top offenders based on commodity strategy and business conditions. Negotiate and resolve negative purchase price variance.

  • Define alternate supply chain based on fulfillment needs. Have a clear understanding of lead-times and supplies availability.

  • Support main component strategic stock planning.

  • Concisely communicate status of critical quote and order lines to management in a timely manner.

  • Main interface between internal customers and suppliers.

  • If needed, get involved in Supplier Deviation Request (SDR) resolution by working with Sourcing Quality Engineer and Design Engineering.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited university in Business Management, Engineering or equivalent.

  • Excellent English communication skills.

  • Commercial understanding and negotiation skills by previous experience in Purchasing/Sourcing dept. of a multinational company.

  • Self-starter – able to excel in fast paced business environment

  • Very strong customer service and results oriented mindset.

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Ability to organize, assess, prioritize tasks, risks, resources, milestones and deliverables.

  • Ability to work under pressure and by objectives.

  • Positive mindset and “can do” attitude

If contracted in Spain:

Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.

Desired Characteristics

  • Excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills in English and French or Spanish is an advantage.

  • Strong sourcing background in well-structured Purchasing organization of a multinational OEM is an advantage.

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.

  • Frequent user of Excel and able to deal with big amount of data.

  • Experienced in working remotely with colleagues from other countries and cultures.

  • Available to frequent traveling (not applicable during COVID pandemics).
