General Electric Offshore Controls Integration Leader in Barcelona, Spain

Job Description Summary

Controls Integration leader role is responsible to own and drive the complete release process of different PLC software releases. In this role, the engineer is expected to collaborate with Program Managers and Project leads to fulfill their needs with Standard controls release process with continuous rigor with proper Configuration Management. Wind Turbine Controls team receives component specifications from different teams and in this role, the engineer is expected to work closely within Controls (Development, Verification and Platform teams) by aligning with the priorities of Engineering and projects milestones.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Main responsibility would be to align on the controls release process with internal and external stake holders.

  • Planning and alignment of release priorities by closely working with Backlog leaders and Program managers.

  • Coordination of different PLC release cycles by handling the dependencies.

  • Collaboration with Configuration Engineering teams to deliver the right configurations.

  • Identify and drive the improvements in the process and tools to support efficient release and configuration management.

  • Collaborate across different teams to design and execute multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment

  • Understand the Controls development workflow and be part of entire controls feature life cycle.

  • Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to design and control systems with desired behaviors.

  • Work closely with Component owners to understand the real priorities of development and align on the planning with Program managers.

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned activities using sound Systems Engineering methodology while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements as per the organizational planning.

  • Interface with Customer Project Leads to analyze the impact of customizations on the reliability.

  • Understand field issues, services feedback and perform impact analysis towards the specifications followed by design.

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned activities using sound Systems Engineering methodology while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements as per the organizational planning.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Control Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited College or University

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Controls domain.

  • Good exposure in planning and handling of multiple priorities.

  • Experience in design and / or modeling of controls systems

  • Experience with new controls algorithm development, implementation and validation techniques: Software in the Loop (SIL), Hardware in the Loop (HIL)

  • Knowledge of controls related sensors and actuators

  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute activities. Established project management skills.

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills and a positive energy

  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with real time controls design or modeling

  • Hands on experience with respect to reliability analysis

  • Proficient in Matlab / Simulink for the design and validation of controls systems

  • Experience with GE’s MarkVIe or similar PLC’s

  • Experience in wind industry with an experience in release and configuration management

  • Familiarity and practical experience with agile methodologies

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
