General Electric Lead Electrical Mechanical Components Engineer - Secondary Steel Structures in Barcelona, Spain
Job Description Summary
The purpose of the job is the execution and management of all engineering activities to deliver quality design for the electrical and mechanical sub-systems and all other secondary steel components within the towers of GE offshore wind turbines.
The responsibilities of the Lead Secondary Steel Engineer will range from technical review, discussion and costing of customer requests to conceptual design and development of functional and testing specifications for validation of the different electrical and mechanical systems inside the towers of the GE offshore wind turbines.
Based on the site-specific customer requirements, the Lead Secondary Steel Engineer will deliver engineering designs, execute business-critical New Product Introductions, drive cost competitiveness and ensure world class sub-system performance for the secondary steel components located inside the tower of the biggest offshore wind turbine developed up to date. The range of secondary steel components includes electrical auxiliary systems and mechanical internals such as access ladders, mechanical platforms, anchor points, cable trays and LV cables. Moreover, the role also covers interface with corresponding components within the sub-structure.
The Lead Secondary Steel Engineer will work together with all relevant stakeholders such as customers, project managers, sub-structure designers, supply chain, health & safety, quality and operations to deliver the best solution from a whole value chain perspective.
Roles and Responsibilities
Full ownership of technical review and costing of customer requests for tower secondary steel components. Performance of 3D mock-up of interface with sub-structure during analysis of customer requests.
Full ownership and accountability for design, development, testing and certification of appointed sub-system.
Full ownership of mechanical and electrical interface with customer sub-structure.
Drive compliance of components and their use to international codes and standards like IEC, UL, CSA, ISO, CE, CCC, DIN, DNVGL, etc.
Ensure quality of deliverables, on-time delivery, design cost, DFMEA, performance, availability, weight and general targets defined by the business related to the sub-system.
Ensure fully integrated solution for each sub-system as well as smooth interface with mechanical, controls and power conversion systems.
Ensure proper design reviews and documentation quality according to GE specifications and defined project gates.
Provide innovative design solutions to deliver world class quality.
Bachelor's Degree in any Engineering or related discipline preferably Electrical.
Significant experience in proven technology and/or product management.
Some experience in offshore wind industry.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Wind industry expertise with proven results developing & implementing technology programs.
Technical expertise in secondary steel components for offshore wind turbine towers & sub-structures.
Knowledge of offshore wind standards and design codes.
Skilled in electrical & mechanical component design calculations and specifications.
Demonstrated system thinking and ability to assess technical and commercial trade-offs, effectively assess risks and optimize results.
Experience with 3D CAD tools (NX).
Business acumen and customer focus.
Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across stakeholders to influence outcomes.
Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, self-motivation, problem solving, analytical thinking and teamwork, excellent communication skills and ability to develop relationships.
