General Electric Lead Design for Serviceability Engineer in Barcelona, Spain

Job Description Summary

The Services Engineering Productivity team owns optimization of technical planned maintenance requirements for improved serviceability on wind turbines. The team has direct impact on the experience of customers regarding the effectiveness of service from GE, and the scope covers the entire turbine system for all turbine platforms in all global regions. This role focuses on developing service documents for new wind turbine products in support of Design for Serviceability.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

As Lead Design for Serviceability (DFS) Engineer on the Services Engineering Productivity team, you will:

  • Create service documents for use as technician work instructions regarding planned maintenance, minor repairs, and advanced trouble shooting guides

  • Champion technician safety and ergonomics for all work instructions

  • Manage updates to maintenance manuals and related documents such as lubrication and bolt torque specifications

  • Create tooling lists for planned maintenance

  • Collaborate with new unit design teams, regional service teams, etc to develop and optimize service documents

  • Use clear thinking and technical expertise to enhance maintenance procedures to drive productivity

  • Contribute to lean standardization and enhancement of methods used to create and deliver service documents, including the upstream generation of inputs for the documents

  • Support DFS enhancements for new wind turbine products to minimize planned maintenance cost. Contribute to life-cycle cost calculations

  • Clearly communicate project status, issues, risks, benefits, and recommendations to leadership & business stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced technical degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant technical experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English

  • EU Work Permit

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience with maintenance of complex industrial or power generation equipment, especially if related to Wind turbines

  • Passion for safety of technicians and ease of serviceability

  • Clear thinking and system thinking for effective root cause evaluation, procedure optimization, solution development, and risk mitigation

  • Prior experience in developing, optimizing, and documenting technical procedures

  • Motivated and innovative in finding viable solutions to meet deliverables with minimal oversight

  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence stakeholders across global organization to drive change

  • Ability to multi-task and successfully balance multiple deliverables

  • Ability to review new engineering designs and provide feedback for serviceability enhancements
