Job Description Summary
The Senior Manager, EMEA Fleet Engineering is responsible for technical customer issue resolution for the GE onshore wind turbine fleet for the European (EU) and Middle East, North Africa, Turkey (MENAT) market. The individual will provide leadership and expertise to a broad set of teams within the Fleet Reliability & Operations (FRO) organization to deliver world class fleet performance as measured by production, availability, while reducing warranty and lifecycle costs. A key aspect of the role is to work with the EU and MENAT Services P&L leader and their corresponding regional P&Ls to drive a comprehensive strategy that supports improvements in fleet performance and a reduction in cost of quality. The individual will have direct responsibility for the following teams within EMEA FRO: remote operations center, the fleet performance engineers, the product service engineers, and the data analytics team.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Manager, EMEA Fleet Engineering will be responsible for multiple teams to drive fleet improvements and reduce overall GE spend on cost of quality. The leader will have direct staff team members and is responsible for setting priorities, coaching team members, and defining and achieving business objectives associated with fleet performance, availability, and cost of quality reduction. As part of addressing business objectives, the leader will work closely with the regional service P&L leader and his staff to drive customer issue resolution by combining operational rigor with technical issue resolution. The leader will ensure the team is gathering data from fleet monitoring tools to proactively identify systemic issues. The individual will provide expertise to the team to develop and drive corrective actions with speed and effectiveness into the fleet, along with preventative actions upstream across the business functions, such as engineering and sourcing. In addition, the senior manager will be responsible for the process of resolving daily down turbine and technical issues (i.e., PAC) that are escalated from the field and our customers in a timely manner. Overall success and key KPIs will be measured through fleet production, availability, liquidated damage reduction, along with cycle time and effectiveness of RCA, PAC, and SAFER issue resolution. In this role you will work in a collaborative manner with both the Pre and Post COD functions, and directly with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE), Engineering, Projects, Services, Sales/Commercial, Manufacturing, and other portions of FRO both locally and globally. The leader will be required to be the technical voice in customer reviews/discussions assisting the organization in resolving customer concerns.
In addition, the leader will:
Lead employees in several locations and support our internal and external customers with highest level of safety, compliance, quality, and integrity.
Be a change agent cross-functionally for ONW, and specifically the EU and MENAT regions, to drive proactive issue detection mindset and resolution throughout the organization.
Lead operational rigor within the FRO organization and with site teams and their service directors through daily management of KPIs required to achieve business objectives.
Drive productivity improvements within the EMEA FRO team, and FRO globally.
Embed lean and digital efficiencies within the team to drive continuous improvement in the daily work.
Provide day to day work direction, professional development, and escalated issue support for the FRO EMEA staff and team members
Support transactional opportunities to resolve non-contractual fleet issues.
Lead and support executive-level internal and external reviews.
Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Controls, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Previous leadership roles in engineering and/or operations.
Experience in wind industry
Proven RCA expertise in the tools/processes to support issue resolution
Ability to analyze technical processes
Past experience with Lean leadership
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to make clear decisions in the face of ambiguity
Ability to work cross-functionally with multicultural teams, strong team player
High flexibility and motivation
