The VP – Chief Technology Officer, will report to the Senior VP – Chief Information Officer of Gas Power and lead the infrastructure teams and organization responsible for Operations, programs and P&A of GE Gas Power’s infrastructure including network, compute, storage, hosting, middleware, cloud, web, database, portfolio management, collaboration, Video, Voice, Telephony, Global Site support, Operations and DWP environments. This role partners closely with GE CTO Board, CISO and Corporate teams that provide the underlying services to provide seamless services and operations to Gas Power.

Job Description

  • Continue the journey, accelerate our Modernization agenda as we migrate to the Cloud, reduce our Datacenter footprint, optimize our Storage and related infrastructure, and improve P&A across our Cloud, Hosting, Compute, Web and Database environments.

  • Drive Office of the future, network optimization with managed internet solutions, our OT and manufacturing network strategies, as well as new office build out, decommissions and remote access strategy. This position owns P&A for the 230+ office sites, 28 Manufacturing locations, also leads our Customer Solution organization supporting the network and 3rd part infrastructure of 900+ customer installations.

  • Partner closely with the CIO’s to deliver new programs, and support with infrastructure, middleware, cloud engineering, solution architecture and provisioning and build activities as the drive application backlog delivery .

  • Partner closely with VMO and Own the vendors, buy across the infrastructure landscape, managing deflation and cost out targets

  • Provide organizational leadership and manage, evolve the team to be a global, diverse, world class infrastructure organization of 120 GE FTE’s and 300+ Contingent workers. Provide Operational and strategic guidance to infrastructure teams, CIO teams, and Corporate teams to deliver Gas Power goals.

  • Own, manage and deliver to a budget of $140M working closely with Corporate, Vendors and the FP&A organization. Balance fixed and variable costs, charges and liquidation in close partnership with FP&A to meet or beat Op Plan. Communicate with transparency to manage expectations aligned with liquidations. Make investment recommendations, and deliver associated programs.

  • Drive the tech stack consolidation strategies, and lead with industry N, N-1 strategies. This role partners closely with the Enterprise Architect to maintain and manage the tech stack for Gas Power. Partner with Commercial, Supply Chain, Engineering and Services teams to bring in NTI and drive innovation in IIoT and RPA. Manage the application portfolio of 650+ applications, Application health, and associated tech stack and programs.

  • Partner with CISO and security teams to maintain policy, compliance, SOX and audit of our infrastructure. Own and drive Manufacturing OT, Asset Board commitments (95%), and associated technologies and processes we are building out with Defender for IoT, Axonius and CIRT/response capabilities

  • Support CTO office KPI’s for Carbon footprint, Cloud migration, modernization, while delivering Vulnerability, Obsolescence, and asset accuracy metrics.

  • Support GE Vernova seperation and Day 1 success, as well as acquisitions and Divestitures with appropriate Infrastructure strategy and delivery of TSA’s

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a STEM-related Degree;

  • A candidate must have 15 years of professional experience in Information Technology OR a Master’s degree with 12 years of similar experiences.

  • You have demonstrated the ability to build and lead an IT/Security/Architecture/Engineering team with a minimum of 6 years in a management position and senior management interaction, ideally in a cross-functional, matrix organization.

  • Minimum 5 years of cloud expertise and developing complex SaaS software; understanding of edge to cloud computing and moving from on-premise to cloud is essential.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience leading the Infrastructure/CTO function and breadth and depth in multiple areas of Infrastructure and DWP. The ideal candidate would have held multiple leadership positions in various areas of infrastructure

  • Ability to promote enterprise infrastructure, technology and architecture concepts, principles and strategies and lead others in accomplishing goals and objectives by applying problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated thought leader, delivering new, supporting innovations to exceed customer expectations. Proven experience “rolling up your sleeves” and delivering on stated goals quickly and efficiently.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication and leadership skills with the ability to quickly build credibility, influence, and make recommendations to all levels. Demonstrated capability to communicate technology/architectural strategy and direction to CEO and staff level in an audience appropriate way.

  • Demonstrated experience embracing “team of teams” way of working. Ability to manage complex technical projects and demonstrates expertise in problem solving and technological innovation.

  • Have excellent influential communication skills, business acumen, and customer empathy. Proven oral and written communication skills, including executive-level presentation skills.

  • Provides technical and change management leadership for the planning and direction of major technology adoption and deployment with enterprise-wide impact.

  • Strong, clear and simple communicator who operates as a credible and respected spokesperson internally and externally, both to internal stakeholders and the marketplace

  • Change Leadership: Leading the cultural shift required to deliver on the above. Driving the Digital change through people, transforming and aligning an organization in a new direction

  • Technical Knowledge: A broad and deep knowledge of today’s emerging technologies, as well as how those technologies can and will impact the Energy industry
