General Electric Sr Staff Application Operations Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

Role Summary:

The Sr Staff Application Operations Engineer will be responsible to drive improvement strategies and nurture the quality culture within the organization. Demonstrates accountability for developing and implementing quality standards and policies in the organization. Maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and meeting the required business standards & goals. Lead quality activities, monitor business quality metrics and implement systems that improve Software Quality.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Sr Staff Application Operations Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Integrates and develops processes and Software that meet business needs across the organization. Involved in long-term planning. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within functional areas.

  • Responsible for providing expertise in design and software quality to support the portfolio of products

  • Define business Quality Level and Plan for the Software engineering

  • Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as TCE, internal and field defect rate, quality plan engagement/effectiveness, and engineering corrective & preventative action closures

  • Own project audits, ensuring project compliance, and driving improvement plans

  • Monitor Software releases and implement appropriate control strategies for defect free releases

  • Drive quality improvement strategies, develop practical and innovative ways to identify root causes, strategic approach to achieve Software quality to meet business goals

  • Drive Knowledge of quality systems to comply with the GETS Quality System Manual & Quality System Procedures

  • Implement Six Sigma methodologies as applicable for Software Projects

  • Work with quality champion(s) / Quality Leaders and other operating leaders to develop quality goals & work towards implementation of best practices/ process across teams.

  • Provide leadership in investigations of major field issues and of special projects

  • Ensure prioritization and balance between short-term business needs and longer-term strategic growth across the team

  • Maintain broad awareness of efforts within team to assure timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs

  • Identify competencies and deficiencies within the team and establish goals to address

  • Implement the process of innovative change accordingly

  • Provide global strategic direction for assigned organizational responsibilities, programs

  • Apply technical input to drive business strategy

  • Maintain broad awareness of efforts within department to assure technical quality excellence

  • Continuously establish and develop relationships with outside professional organizations

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). A minimum 10 years of professional experience.

  • 10+ Years of experience in Software Development in large Enterprises

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in leading a group of developers

  • Fluent hands-on programming skills in a few of following langugues: Java, Python, C/C++, C#, Unix Shell Scripting, Ruby, JavaScript, GO, Scala, etc.

  • Experienced in Compute Infrastructure, Network Protocols, common Operating Systems, Infrastructure Architecture, High Availability concepts, HW and SW clustering

  • Experienced working with variety of Databases, Relational, Time-Series, Big Data

  • Familiar with OpenSource Software concepts, Cloud Computing implementations, Microservices mindset, ability to advocate the concepts

  • Outstanding presentation skills, ability to speak and present in a large forum of Executives

  • Experienced with Jenkins, CI/CT standards

  • Familiar with one of the following: Chef, Ansible, Puppet or Rundeck

  • Knowledge of IEEE software engineering principles and Safety standards

  • Knowledge of Product Management, NPI process, product roadmap development, product lifecycle management Business Acumen:
