Job Description Summary
The Senior Engineer, Life Cycle Reliability Engineering – Generator Reliability will participate in Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) assessments for new and existing Generators. Focus will be on analyzing Generator data from various sources and creating/maintaining reliability models/analytics to deliver business outcomes. This role will work with various stakeholders across GE including Applications, Requisitions, Multi-Year Agreements (MYA) Services Risk, Product Line Management, Product Services, and Digital, as well as others including end users.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and own development of reliability engineering analyses, algorithms & models to identify, quantify and mitigate engineering risk and impact due to Generator fleet issues
Plan and execute the Tribal Knowledge (TK) Process to analyze and disposition critical Generator failure data in collaboration with cross functional teams; As the TK process owner for Generator fleet, drive standardization and optimization of the TK process to improve Generator data quality and completeness
Lead in preparing Generator Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) studies for internal and external customers (end-users)
Supports outage excellence by performing reliability analysis and providing engineering recommendations to outage planning team in and effort to drive extra work while reducing outage risks – duration, cost, etc.
Lead RAM Deck model generation efforts to support the MYA sales & productivity efforts around Generator fleet maintenance and services
Perform Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses as required for customer facing efforts
Provide RAM analysis in support of Pivot to Value (PV2) programs, Root Cause Analyses (RCA), Technical Information Letter (TIL) creation, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects and Capital Projects
Provide domain expertise to support customer meetings and/or collaborative efforts as required.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert to develop Generator Asset Strategy Management (ASM) content for the Asset Performance Management (APM) Digital Plant Product.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 7 years of engineering, facilities, or operations experience in Generator or Generator accessories design, analytics, or power plant operation/maintenance domain
Pandemic travel requirement as required for emergent situations / Post-pandemic travel 10% of the time on average
Working knowledge of probability and statistical methods and techniques
Understanding of Generator systems, components, operations, and maintenance
Engineering design and validation experience in power plant equipment
Working experience in a Power Plant operations and maintenance role with strong working knowledge of Generators & Generator accessories, BOP, etc
Experience in/Familiarity with Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
Experience working with a globally based engineering team
Working experience in a cross functional organization, i.e., services, systems, controls, performance
Ability to rapidly change directions on multiple concurrent projects based on emergent business priorities
Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
Effective communication skills, oral and written
Familiarity and knowledge of APM is highly desirable
Familiar with QC checking of newly developed software
Demonstrated technical skills
Familiar with ReliaSoft products such as Blocksim and Weibull++, and other tools such as Minitab, JMP, etc…
Experience in using the Microsoft suite of Office Tools
Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
Reliability Practitioner Program Certified (RPP) or Certified Reliability and Maintenance Professional (CMRP)
