Job Description Summary
The Monitoring DevOps team is responsible for software design, development and operational reliability of the GE Monitoring platform. The role is a software engineering role within a wider monitoring organization, developing new monitoring and analytics capabilities, integrate with multiple in-house, open-source and proprietary tools, enhance visibility into full-stack monitoring of a large Enterprise.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and develop software for a large in-house Event Management and analytics platform within Monitoring intelligence space.
The work assumes application development of 80% of time using Golang, Java, Python, and many more languages and technologies.
Develop integrations with multiple monitoring solutions allowing correlation of monitoring events across full-stack infrastructure and application topology
Develop automated solutions to predict and address potential problems before they result in a service interruption
Design and implement software solutions in various Infrastructure and application layers
Collaborate with all GE business units worldwide, providing a bastion technical expertise
Identify potential process improvements across the entire monitoring organization
Define and drive architectural enhancements into system to mitigate potential failure points
Provide impact assessment and mitigation plan for changes going into the production environment
Investigate root cause of severe and systemic outages, identify corrective actions
Establish performance baseline, capacity thresholds, correlate events, and define
monitoring/alerting criteria
Provide technical coaching and direction to more junior teammates
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and minimum 2 years of professional experience OR in lieu of a Bachelors degree, a High School diploma and 6 years of professional experience.

Technical Expertise:
Excellent knowledge of software engineering principles
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Experience with all stages of an agile software development lifecycle (CI/CD)
Familiar with large scale cluster management systems (Mesos, Kubernetes)
Proven ability to develop business applications using commonly popular languages - Java/Python/Go/similar
Ability to script around repeatable tasks (Go, Ruby, Python, Bash)
Experienced with at least one cloud platform (AWS/Azure/others)
Experience with developing cloud-native applications (High Availability)
Knowledge of UNIX system is required
Familiar with Database concepts - RDBMS, NoSQL, DocumentDB, TimeSeries, GraphDB, CacheDB
Comfortable with network troubleshooting (tcpdump, routing, proxies, firewalls, load balancers, etc.)
Able to troubleshoot and debug applications (C, Java, Go)
Familiar with configuration management systems (Chef, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Salt)
Familiar with configuring, customizing, and extending monitoring tools (Sensu, Grafana, Prometheus, Graphite, Splunk, New Relic, AppDynamics, etc.)
Experience deploying and managing infrastructure on public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Comfortable using Git on the command line
