General Electric Lead Project Engineer in Asheville, North Carolina
Job Description Summary
The Project Engineer will lead the development of individual projects spanning from New Product Introductions (NPIs), installing capital equipment (lathes & mills), and improving current production capabilities associated with rotating components for aircraft engines. This role will require taking full responsibility for driving projects to completion while establishing clear communication to both core team members and internal/external stakeholders regarding status, risks, and opportunities throughout the lifetime of projects.
Successful, established career in project management with previous, direct experience leading projects.
Experience tracking financial costs associated with capital projects and ability to track cost and lead time variances from initial project budgets.
Ability to create and control Project Plans, ‘Work in Process’ (WIP) trackers, and PowerPoint slide decks; as well as, present said documents within cross departmental meetings with intent of aligning core team members or internal/external stakeholders.
Act at project lead or work within cross-functional teaming organization spanning production, quality, product design engineering, sourcing, etc focused on step-change manufacturing improvements.
Proactive, self-starter who is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Assist in solving manufacturing issues using root cause analysis & implementing corrective actions
Present to senior leaders in specific technical space and on cross functional teams how technologies or projects interconnect, contribute to our overall site strategy, and support value stream
Strong oral & written communication skills
Contribute new ideas and positive support to improve the state of current process
Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word).
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)
Minimum of 3 years of direct experience leading projects (aerospace or metalworking industry preferred)
PMP certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Experience with NPI aerospace projects and experience with aerospace rotating parts.
Proven analytical and organizational ability
