General Electric Lead Specialist 2 Operational EHS - Fixed Facilities in Ashalim, Israel
Job Description Summary
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Leader will provide EHS support under the long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) contract for the 121MW Concentrated Solar Power Plant, Ashalim Plot B.
The EHS Leader is responsible for the Health and Safety of himself, and any staff/contractors working under his direction in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Policy.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of site EHS activities to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and GE procedures
Implement and execute GE Steam Power O&M EHS programs / processes
Maintain site-specific EHS programs and plans
Provide guidance and interpretation of EHS regulations and requirements affecting site to management team and owner.
Partner with operations and maintenance team to manage site EHS compliance activities (inspections, training, monitoring, sampling, etc.)
Drive EHS compliance through audits, process / equipment reviews and site inspections
Lead site risk elimination/risk reduction activities
Demonstrate strong leadership as a member of site management team
Manage site EHS training program. Conduct classroom training as needed.
Complete all site regulatory reports (air, water, hazardous materials, waste, IH, etc.) and work closely with site customer to ensure timely submittal of reports.
Lead site injury and illness prevention program. Lead incident / accident investigations and develop corrective & preventive action plans
Manage site EHS consultants.
Work cooperatively with GE EHS resources on business projects and initiatives
Utilize site EMS system (Gensuite) to record and track site EHS activities (training, incident reporting, incident investigation, etc.).
Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 4 years of EHS experience in an industry or manufacturing environment.
Israel certified Safety Officer
Desired Characteristics
Advanced computer skills, primarily with MS Office software programs, i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access
Experience with customer interaction
Experience with regulatory agency interaction
Strong oral and written communication skills in Hebrew and English
Demonstrated influencing skills in a team environment workforce
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations
Experience in Health and Safety and Environmental management systems; i.e. ISO9000, ISO14001, ISO18000, etc.
Ability to work closely with station management team and external resources a
EHS leadership experience at a power generation or similar industrial facility preferably within a global organization.
Experienced working in the Israel Regulatory environment.
Experience managing, hazardous waste, and other environmental programs
Experience working directly with regulatory inspectors and permitting personnel
Experience generating regulatory required reports.
Self-starter with strong client and public communication skills
