General Electric Sr Build & Release Engineer in Arlington Heights, Illinois

Role Summary:

GE is looking for a build and release engineer to join our Enterprise Imaging Build and Release/DevOps team. The team provides build and release activities for several medical imaging and workflow products used globally by caregivers. Our team is not just about getting work done, it’s about innovating and developing build and release outcomes to enable our development teams to get to market faster and with higher quality.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Work across our extensive product portfolio with various scrum team roles to obtain and utilize required product information to build integrated environments for programs to utilize throughout the release cycle.

  • Be responsible for the development/maintenance of golden environments/templates and related data sets to reduce the need for manual environment creation and integration setup.

  • Engage with CI/CD activities to streamline the environment creation process for dynamic environment creation.

  • Be expert at applying principles of SDLC and methodologies like Agile, CI/CD, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques

  • Provide leadership to other team members including contract resources.

  • Work with Build and Release leadership to create a roadmap of improvements, own execution of the roadmap as well as ways to prioritize interrupt activities. Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry related to Configuration Management, Quality Tools, Cloud, Agile Tools, CI/CD, software development and or software test engineering. Eligibility Requirements: (Country Specific)

  • Skilled in application domain and functional areas. Specific knowledge of existing Enterprise Imaging suite of applications highly desired.

  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of interacting with various types of infrastructure including Cloud (AWS, Skytap) and/or VMWare including utilization of container technology.

  • Exposure to software build and continuous deployment/delivery systems and tools such as: Electric Commander/Electric Flow, Jenkins/Hudson, Bamboo, Chef, Nexus Repository, Artifactory or equivalent

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, Groovy and Software application or automated test development experience using object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C#, or C++ and IDEs such as IntelliJ, Visual Studio, etc.

  • Exposure to Behavior Driven Development or Acceptance Driven Testing with tools such as JUnit, NUnit, JBehave, Cucumber, and/or SpecFlowBusiness Acumen:

  • Evaluates technology to drive features and roadmaps. Maps technology trends to internal vision. Differentiates buzzwords from value proposition. Embraces technology trends that drive excellence beyond traditional practices.
