General Electric Manufacturing Engineer -- Lean in Arlington Heights, Illinois

Job Description Summary

Primary responsibilites are focused on lean process improvements for factory operations. Develop skills to become a lean expert, influences at the manager level on projects and initiatives, and contributes to operational plans annually to determine processes and procedures. Lead cross-functional projects to drive standardization, stability, and simplification. Expected to develop lean culture within Arlington Heights site.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support multiple value streams, serving as a recognized expert and resource for focus areas, process rigor, and delivering significant simplification results.

  • Identify & Initiate sustainable process improvements to exceed customer expectations while using lean strategies to drive continuous process improvement

  • Own the development and deployment of existing methodologies while advancing and applying lean principles

  • Facilitate workouts, kaizens, value stream mapping sessions and activities to achieve business results.

  • Develop conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.

  • Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area/site.

  • Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

  • Collaborates with others including peers at other GE Healthcare sites to solve issues and grow skillset. Serves as the interface between other GEHC sites and Arlington Heights. Exchanges technical information, asks questions and checks for understanding.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree chemical, mechanical, industrial, or similar engineering discipline from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in manufacturing / lean operations).

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior manufacturing / lean experience (Intern, Co-Op, or other)

  • Change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; statistically literate and familiar with Six Sigma quality concepts and tools

  • Demonstrated commitment for process improvement

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
