General Electric Site Lean Leader in Arkansas City, Kansas

Job Description Summary

The Strother Site Lean Leader will lead a team that drives lean initiatives and standards and manages the value stream map for the site. The Site Lean Leader is responsible for working with the Plant Leadership team to establish a customer-based process improvement strategy, which drives safety, customer responsiveness, lead time reduction, reduced cost and quality improvement in line with business/functional objectives.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create the Lean Site Strategy aligned with the site vision and priorities; lead the Lean implementation at the plant and drive cross-functional results.

  • Lead and effectively interface with manufacturing and other support teams to complete projects to meet EHS, production, quality, inventory and cost savings

  • Coach, train and mentor site leadership on the fundamentals and principals of Lean Manufacturing.

  • Guide plant teams in developing and executing Lean plans to monitor and increase overall productivity managing multiple value streams, serving as a recognized expert and resource leader for focus areas, process rigor, and delivering significant simplification results. Help drive engagement with site business leaders to collaborate in Lean initiatives that foster goal attainment for current and future business needs

  • Champion change across the organization to foster the growth in Lean and site teaming journey; bring new ideas, motivation and positive support to all levels of the team

  • Support early integration of Lean principles in product design & process development for New Product Introductions.

  • Develop value stream maps for the organization and eliminate process waste through implementation of Lean techniques

  • Drive measurable improvements in lead-time, customer delivery, productivity, inventory, and product flow.

  • Drive Variable Cost Productivity with plant Leadership.

  • Establish and drive a Gemba walk methodology that drives cross functional focus on the production line and quickly solves impediments to flow.

  • Lead execution of Annual kaizen calendar/Lean Roadmap

  • Lead/Facilitate Kaizens on shop floor as well as non-manufacturing processes to achieve world-class process and improve productivity and lead time reduction flow

  • Prepare operational budgets to fund Lean annual activities and estimate productivity gains

  • Address safety and environmental issues within area of responsibility to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Be recognized expert for lean tools like Standard Work, 5S, Single piece Flow, Pull, Kanban, Daily Management, Problem Solving.

  • Help define and manage investment and expense needs that are in line with Growth Playbook Strategy

  • Interface with vendors / OEM's and internal contacts in an effective manner to ensure that technology and processes are positioned for current and future success

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing / quality improvement or production support position (Including a minimum of 3 years of people leadership experience).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing, quality improvement, people leadership (Including experience in Lean methodology and/or Six Sigma tools; ability to drive improvement strategies while coaching leaders through problem solving techniques)

  • Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification or equivalent quality certification

  • Formal Lean Training / Certification; expertise in lean methodologies and process improvement

  • Additional graduate management/business degree
