General Electric Senior IT Sourcing Commodity Manager | Remote to Start in Alpharetta, Georgia

Job Description Summary

Responsible for providing strategic sourcing support to IT Leaders across GE. Negotiate with dedicated providers according to specific policies. Achieve the best contractual conditions while also ensuring internal customer satisfaction. Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create and drive sourcing strategies in alignment with the GE Corporate IT vision around Enterprise software and/or services.

  • Partner with IT leadership at the highest levels to ensure all commercial requirements capture desired cost, performance, service, and business outcomes.

  • Develop & cultivate mutually beneficial relationships and strategic engagements with key vendors and GE stakeholders developing long-term strategies.

  • Drive suppliers in Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance and add value to the organization.

  • Negotiate the full spectrum of products, goods, and services across multiple IT categories in your portfolio to include hardware, software (& SaaS), and professional services.

  • Collaborate with appropriate finance, compliance, and legal subject matter experts in the negotiation and execution of high value contracts including Master Services, Enterprise License, Master Product Agreements.

  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise within their discipline. May require strong commercial awareness and is expected to influence the development of strategy within own area, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.

  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems that impact the function. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of related business experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in IT, IT Software Sourcing, Software Sourcing, or IT Program Management

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong experience in software licensing in working with financial information as a means of decision making, pricing comparisons & benchmarking

  • Strong experience in sourcing negotiating at the highest levels of a supplier

  • Knowledge of information technologies and services, specifically cloud services and software as a service license models

  • Aggressive in execution and undaunted by challenges

  • Drive to execute under extreme deadline pressures and with multiple priorities Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily

  • Demonstrated ability to influence in a matrixed organization and ability in leading large-scale change.

  • Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills at all levels of the organization as well as with external organizations.

  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong relationship management ability.

  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships; creates processes with customer viewpoint; partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives.

  • Strong analytical, strong problem-solving skills.

  • Communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve; creates actionable strategies and operational plans.

  • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements; champions and drives change initiatives; confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly.

  • Excels and delivers results under tight, pressure filled timelines.
