General Electric Sr Engineer 1 - Operations in Albany, New York

Job Description Summary

Manages operations and supports GE team developing MR research technology in collaboration with customers. Works with cross functional teams and external suppliers. Drives initiatives to improve the effectiveness of operations and quality control. Owns/influences budgets and operating plans. Requires an excellent knowledge of complex engineering processes and a strong background in physical and/or chemical sciences.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead program operations and execute strategic plans.

  • Manage relationships with key operations vendors.

  • Oversee suppliers’ manufacturing and product support.

  • Identify and resolve quality issues with vendors and suppliers.

  • Support scientific team in the development of new products.

  • Plan and organize complex workflow for international distribution of goods.

  • Forecast financial requirements, quarterly and yearly budget planning.

  • Manage all operational invoices and purchase orders.

  • Manage customers contracts and orders.

  • Develop operations systems for product handling and storage requirements; consolidate inventory management and distribution.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science and a minimum 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Good knowledge of the academic research environment.

  • Experience in quality management and regulatory compliance processes.

Desired Characteristics

  • Familiar with GE MRI systems and possibly SPINlab system.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

  • Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
