Role Summary/Purpose

Field Engineers provide on-site technical direction and project engineering to customer-owned utility, nuclear power plants. This opportunity begins with a 12 month training program that establishes business and technical skills for engineers to operate confidently and independently as Field Engineers for GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH)

Essential Responsibilities

In the Field Engineer Program, you will:

  • Train, which includes classroom training in the GEH Services Training Facilities in Wilmington NC and San Jose, CA, followed by individualized experience-gaining assignments in field locations

  • Post training responsibilities will include project proposing, planning, scheduling, cost estimating, process development, team training, and on-site delivery of Nuclear Field

  • Work on services projects including integration and coordination of project work with other GE and Customer teams


  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline from an accredited university or college, with a documented GPA of 3.0/4.0ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability and willingness to climb and descend 10 flights of stairs, twice per day

  • Ability and willingness to pass respirator fit test and physical

  • Ability and willingness to pass Fitness for Duty requirements and site security requirements to obtain unescorted access

  • Ability and willingness to work under high stress conditions

  • Ability and willingness to work in radiation controlled areas and radioactively contaminated areas

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally to plant sites 75% of the time, as required

  • Ability and willingness to work 12 hours a day, 7 days per week when delivering of field projects

  • Able to gain unescorted access to domestic and international nuclear power plant sites

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
