Role Summary:

GE is currently searching for an experienced Lead Manufacturing Engineer to support the production of water filtration membranes at our Westborough, MA facility. The production of water purification filters is a growing business which addresses the ever increasing need for water. We are looking for a highly motivated and technically strong mechanical or chemical engineer to support our manufacturing facility. Come be a part of this exciting and growing technology!

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

  • Ensure EH&S compliance and support culture to continuously improve Safety performance

  • Improve quality, uptime and yield of manufacturing processes including documenting process changes, driving process / fixture improvements, driving lead and cycle time improvements, cost of quality (COQ), and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) actions

  • Implement and maintain Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics for production lines

  • Define investment and expense needs, driving from preparing for approvals to completion

  • Participate in LEAN initiative, and engage Six Sigma tools for process improvements

  • Develop and implement process improvements to reduce costs and cycles

  • Bring new ideas and positive support to the current process

  • Implement productivity actions in order to improve the process and respect objectives

  • Participate in EHS related actions, to improve safety in own area

  • Lead and effectively interface with manufacturing and other support teams to complete projects to meet EHS, production, quality, and cost savings goals within schedule and budget

  • Interface with vendors and internal contacts in an effective manner to ensure that the technical and EHS perspective is properly conveyed

  • Assure that all engineering designs and technical data are complete and accurately documented to provide an accurate technical / historical base for future reference and to meet customer / end user requirements

  • This is a contract manufacturing site and the successful candidate will interface and proactively communicate with both the site team and the GE Water team - primary GE Water contacts are based in Minnetonka, MN

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing
