Role Summary/Purpose

The database administrator will be responsible for building the Grid Solutions Applications Database infrastructure, including Oracle sizing, retention, and performance.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Database Administrator, you will:

  • Configure, build, deploy, and maintain internal and customer-deliverable Oracle Databases for Grid Solution systems, using existing processes and procedures

  • Support product development and customization to the standard database infrastructure per project and customer requirements

  • Familiar with database infrastructure for Oracle RAC, and standalone Oracle, using ASM. This includes knowledge of storage systems, networks on Linux and Windows platforms

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex Oracle database issues, including configuration, data integrity, performance tuning, software bugs, and operational service failures

  • Work with program developers to ensure continual optimization of SQL queries and database configurations

  • Practiced troubleshooting and problem analysis of complex Oracle database and RAC issues

  • Provide direct customer support, both in-plant and on-site, for US domestic and international customers


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or comparable work experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Oracle databaseELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:

  • Ability and Willingness to travel, both US and international, 20%

Desired Characteristics

  • Oracle 12c and 11g administration

  • Ability to work as part of a team in building, administering, and deploying systems

  • Ability to develop and follow procedures

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in documenting and teaching installation and configuration processes

  • Demonstrable experience in developing advanced Oracle 12c RAC architecture designs and corresponding support models within a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment

  • Advanced knowledge of and experience in Oracle operational support best practices

  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle database and SQL tuning practices

  • Certification – Oracle Database 12c

  • Oracle Linux Experience

  • Virtualization (VMware) Experience

  • Experience administering a production-state system, and interacting directly with customers

  • Oracle DataGuard experience

  • Oracle Golden Gate experience

  • Experience in mission critical IT operations support environments

  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of the organization and external customers

  • Experience working in a global organization

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams

  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
