GE Aerospace Sr Engineer - Metrology in Springdale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Senior Engineer will utilize manufacturing and GD&T expertise to successfully design and implement metrology programs and lead initiatives to expand inspection capabilities for turbine airfoil components. This individual will support the Bladeworx site as well as provide programming/metrology assistance to the other turbine airfoil shops.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Create and implement inspection programs including, but not limited to PCDMIS and Alicona

  • Provide programming, troubleshooting and corrective action support to Turbine Airfoils production shops

  • Implement Statistical Process Control via QC-Calc , Minitab or similar software

  • Support, lead, and execute technical roadmaps and initiatives that expand airfoil inspection methods and capabilities.

  • Assist in development and implementation of robust quality plans for turbine airfoil manufacturing

  • Collaborate in an interdisciplinary team to achieve results. Interpersonal and influence skills are required to work in teams to solve multi-dimensional problems.

  • Proactively leads and collaborates cross-functionally to solve inspection system/process shortcomings with key stakeholders including design, manufacturing, quality, and business leaders.

  • Support talent development for longevity of business and technical initiatives.

  • Support producibility evaluations including reviews and establishment of best practices.

  • Generates work instructions and standards. Documents work instructions and standards in the established systems.

  • Communicates significant developments, lessons, and solutions to the broader team including leadership.

  • Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve technology and processes related to inspection technologies.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelors degree (Engineering preferred) from an accredited college or university and 5+ years of manufacturing experience (or a minimum high school diploma / GED with an additional 4+ years of manufacturing experience).

  • 2+ years of metrology experience required.

  • 2+ years of experience with NX CAD or similar software (ie: SolidWorks, 3D Builder, etc) required.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% to turbine airfoils shops in the US.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Experience with high pressure turbine airfoil manufacturing and inspection techniques; specifically metrology techniques.

  • Able to skillfully use GD&T to satisfy design and manufacturing needs for part quality.

  • Comfortable working hands-on in a development lab, manufacturing pilot line, or full rate production environments.

  • Frequent communication throughout the organization.

  • Embrace and promote a culture of respect for all people in all positions.

  • Ability to read technical drawings.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

  • Established project management skills.
