Role Summary/Purpose

As a Senior Transducer Materials Scientist, you will be required to understand, communicate, and apply the fundamental material science that drives performance, delivers value and drives differentiation to our customers in the area of ultrasonic transduces. The candidate will be responsible of following:

Essential Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of acoustic materials and manufacturing process used in the production of ultrasonic transducers and piezoelectric composites minimizing cost and maximizing commercial value

  • Work closely with manufacturing and ceramic processing operations to ensure proper capacity, yields and quality

  • Identify, quantity, and communicate improvement opportunities in technology and advance manufacturing that drive commercial success.

  • Ensure design changes are validated, risks are quantified, and cost impacts have been assessed prior to implementation

  • Be responsible for on-time and on-budget development of quality components

  • Provide technical guidance and solutions to optimize cost competitiveness, quality, and cycle time of products

  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Participate as a reviewer in technical and program reviews

  • Evaluate new product needs and develop advanced technology roadmaps including technology solutions, P / E investment, and overall technology strategy

  • Investigate and resolve technical issues that arise in the transducer ceramic manufacturing process.

  • Leverage problem solving and development methodologies to systematically carry out experiments to ensure the implementation of well characterized and optimized processes and materials

  • Mentor others in the organization


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, or related discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent knowledge and experience

  • Proven years of experience in design, manufacturing, or related experience

  • Experience in piezoelectric composite and ultrasonic probe design

  • Experience with thermosets and adhesives

Desired Characteristics

  • PhD in Material Science, or related discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent knowledge and experience

  • Experience working with plating systems

  • Demonstrated the ability to work with global teams

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and problem solving skills

  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a high performance, cross-functional team to drive impactful results

  • Understanding of safety, cost, and schedule risk mitigation for new processes and technologies

  • Six Sigma training or equivalent Quality training
