Role Summary/Purpose

Responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining the business strategy on Environmental issues (air, climate change, waste, water) predominantly by leading investigations/reviews of the environmental condition of properties associated with real estate and business transactions and leading/supporting the remediation of contaminated sites for GE Healthcare. With team, ensure EHS compliance, identify, prevent and resolve potential environmental issues and mitigate environmental liabilities.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Manage all aspects (technical, regulatory/third party interface, reporting, permitting, compliance, financial, administrative, etc.) of GE Healthcare environmental investigation and remediation projects in compliance with relevant regulatory programs and GE corporate policies. Ensure appropriate management of consultants and legal counsel on all projects and coordinate efforts of other EHS staff members and site EHS professionals on various projects as required.

  2. Develop and track remedial project budgets. Provide and update estimates of future remedial costs on projects for environmental reserve purposes.

  3. Manage due diligence and corporate approvals associated with property transactions and assigned business transactions

  4. Establish and enhance Environmental programs globally that support the GEHC and initiatives

  5. Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans and budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal policy/protocol.

  6. Provide EHS guidance and compliance support to site EHS managers to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements. Participate in EHS compliance and program audits of manufacturing sites and service operations.

  7. Keep management apprised of progress and significant developments on key projects.

  1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position

  2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines

  3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

Required Qualifications: (outline the minimum requirements)

  1. Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, Hydrogeology or Geology or related technical discipline

  2. 10 years experience managing environmental site characterization investigations (Phase I, II, etc), remedial investigation, feasibility study, remedial design, risk assessment, remediation, demolition, decontamination, etc.

  3. Regulatory knowledge and experience working under U.S. federal and state and /or equivalents regulations covering contamination, site investigation and property transfer such as CERCLA, RCRA, OSHA, TSCA, ISRA, etc. and capable of learning requirements and applying this experience internationally

  4. Compliance experience with federal and state EHS regulations (CAA, CWA, OSHA, codes, etc)

  5. Proven project and program management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree (MS) and/or professional certifications (PG, PE, LSP, etc).

  2. Experience managing projects and/or EHS compliance in Europe or Asia and familiarity with European and Asian environmental laws.

  3. Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects and other responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information

  4. Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse, cross-functional, internal and external team across different time zones.

  5. Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
