Role Summary:

You will be responsible for designing and programming a small module or a large component and designing a feature, set of features, or whole feature area. She/he will work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across business. She/he will Lead design discussion in a limited manner.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Be an expert in writing automation code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project

  • Automate, Automate, Automate

  • Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle

  • Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through white boarding

  • Collaborate with peers on technical design and development

  • Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation

  • Demonstrate the ability to build jenkins based deployment pipelines

  • Understand whole product, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or modulesBe responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Software Development OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience in Software Development OR PhD with 3 years of experience in Software DevelopmentEligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

  • Must be willing to travel (15%)

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong knowledge of automation platforms like Chef, Puppet or Terraform.

  • Experience in Java, Go or Python programming

  • Expert in working with POSIX based sustems

  • Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP) or a containerized environment (Mesos, Kubernetes)

  • Knowledge of security/access control, concurrency, online diagnoses, deployment, upgrade/migration, internationalization and production support

  • Experience using integration testing tool like Kitchen

  • Experience working with Agile software development methodologies, like XP or SCRUM

  • Experience as a devops engineer working on large and distributed systems.Business Acumen:

  • Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems
