Role Summary:

Responsible for programing a component, feature and or feature set. Works independently and contributes to the immediate team and to other teams across business. Contributes to design discussions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolvingsoftware in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest softwaredevelopment technologies and infrastructure

  • Provide technical leadership to anagile team of 5-7

  • Work with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to understand productrequirements & vision

  • Translate requirements / vision into prioritized list of userstories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards

  • Work with productline leaders and architects to develop multi generation software technologyplans

  • Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication,leveraging product and technology reuse

  • Support process improvements whichguide the development, sustaining & support activities

  • Coach, mentor and leadthe team

  • Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activitiesand deliverables

  • Drive world-class quality in the development and support ofproducts

  • Engage subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domainknowledge

  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI,Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and TestingTechniques

  • Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionalityusing the technology selected for the project

  • Understand performance parametersand assess application performance

  • Work on core data structures and algorithmsand implement them using technology chosen

  • Proactively share information acrossthe team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 4 years of professionalexperience in Software development (minimum 2 years if graduate of a GE Leadership Program) OR Master’s degree with 3 years of experience Softwaredevelopment Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns andJava coding principles

  • Hands-on experience in web services (REST, SOAP, WSDLetc.), using Apache Commons Suite & Maven, SQL Database such as Oracle MySQL,PostgreSQL etc.

  • Hands-on experience in utilizing Spring Framework (Core, MVC,Integration and Data)

  • Experience with Big Data / Hadoop and NoSQL Database is abig plus

  • Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specifictechnical topics or assignments

  • Experience in building scalable and highly availabledistributed systems Master’s Degree/ PHD in Computer Science

  • Demonstrates theinitiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems

  • Skilledin breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimatingefforts

  • Ability to takes ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver whilementoring and helping team members

  • Ensures understanding of issues andpresents clear rationale. Able to speak to mutual needs and win-win solutions. Uses two-waycommunication to influence outcomes and ongoing results

  • Strong oral and writtencommunication skills
