Role Summary/Purpose

As part of the GE Transportation CTO Platform Architecture team, the Principal Software Platform Architect will lead, drive or oversee software platform architecture, vision, strategy, priorities and tactics, across GE Transportation and GE Digital.

Essential Responsibilities

The architect will work closely with development and engineering teams, ecosystem partners, customers, and senior business leadership on multiple architecture engagements that require in-depth domain knowledge and architecture skills. Architectural area of focus is Enterprise Applications, Mobile Applications, and Industrial Internet.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and coordinate GE Transportation software and cloud technical and business discussions relative to near and longer term architecture direction across the product portfolio, GE Predix, and GE Predix-based applications

  • Analyze design and develop roadmaps, strategies, and high level implementation plans based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint for platform centric areas in Transportation

  • Review and/or analyze and develop cross-product platform architectural requirements at domain level within product portfolio or team

  • Lead and drive Transportation-centric software/hw platform requirements into GE Digital and Predix roadmaps and plans

  • In an advisory or more formal technical project management role, contribute to the development of software and hardware platforms that serve as a foundation for the Predix cloud platform, cloud applications, data science, analytics and/or UX

  • Serve as an evangelist for the Predix cloud platform and GET software solutions within GE Transportation, GE Digital, partners, and customers

  • Help drive and/or support the building of software development culture (people, process, tools) within GE Transportation

  • Serve as evaluator and advisor for emerging software/hardware technologies, industry and market trends to assist business development and ecosystem activities

  • Technical focus on enterprise applications and mobile application portfolio for Transportation

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 15 years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across product lines and/or disciplines

Eligibility Requirements:

Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

  • Proven experience driving and leading technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction aligning with business goals

  • Ability to lead and develop architectural requirements at platform level, aligning architectural requirements with product/project software development strategy

  • Deep understanding of enterprise software development, technologies, and architectures and/or cloud-native development, technologies and architectures

  • Experience building either responsive mobile, hybrid or native mobile applications

  • Experience developing web applications (Spring MVC, RESTful, JAX-WS, Web Services)

  • Experience with front-end technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, CSS, jQuery, AngularJS, Web Components

  • Experience with web development using HTML5, Java Script, jQuery, CSS

  • Experience with database tools (JPA, Spring Data, Hibernate, etc.)

  • Experience with modern tooling (Eclipse / IntelliJ, Maven, NPM, Grunt, Git, etc.)

  • Experience with Web Components or AngularJS is a big plus

  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles
