Role Summary:

North American Turbine Controls Field Application Engineer – will provide commercial and application leadership for all Turbine Controls related markets within the NA territory. Key focus will be on supporting and leading regional Sales and Commercial Teams in effectively growing the awareness of drivers for the controls retrofit market to grow the opportunity pipeline, orders, sales and margin.

Essential Responsibilities:

This individual will also participate in regional industry/application events, advisory boards and regulatory committees to influence thought leadership.

In the role of North American Turbine Controls Field Application Engineer you will:

  • Provide pre-sales support on Power generation turbine control upgrade opportunities

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of GE’s turbine control product offerings

  • Understand customers’ business goals, operating objectives and drivers to tailor GE solutions to best structure outcome based offerings

  • Provide strategic guidance to sales managers and product leadership to favorably position GE offerings within end user and corporate plans

  • Provide controls commercial leadership and support through the proposal development phase to ensure optimal opportunity strategy and execution. Facilitate Strategic Selling Blue Sheet development on all critical fleet or significant project opportunities

  • Establish relationships with selected Key Customers: management, engineering and asset owners

  • Support key customer presentations / projects / proposals to drive growth of overall turbine control upgrades including GE and non-GE turbines

  • Maintain a strong internal GE customer network including: GE Power, Distributed Power and Oil & Gas regional leadership.

  • Remain current on market trends and anticipate changes in the market including regulations, threats, competitor approaches, etc. and update Regional and Product Line Teams on market dynamics and solution updates

  • Partner with Product Line and Application Team to identify and size target markets. Validate customer feedback and support development of competitive commercial and execution strategies

  • Lead effort to identify relevant case study sites and successful customer projects

  • Deliver technical project and product presentation in industry forums (SOA / User meeting / Conferences)

  • Facilitate competitive commercial analysis and market penetration assessments per industry vertical Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 5 years of Direct Sales, Technical sales support and/or business development experience Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel 50% of the time regionally, as required Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university is preferred

  • Deep understanding of turbine controls industry drivers and competitive marketplace

  • Background in software and technical upgrade approaches for turbine generation applications

  • Must be able to generate immediate credibility with customers, suppliers, GE sales / project management / engineering communities

  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and computer skills as well as the ability to multi-task in a dynamic, geographically dispersed team environment are required

  • Self-starter personality with high energy level, ability to manage regional teams in matrix environment and start-up business mentality are keys to success in this position

  • Excellent presentation, spoken and written English skills

  • Customer-focused skills, demonstrated by experience in direct sales, customer services or project management, are essential
