Naval Commodity Manager
Location(s) Where Opening Is Available United Kingdom
Primarily responsible for sourcing activities with the objective to ensure a competitive and flexible supply chain is available for the Industrial Steam Turbine Naval business. Shape the supply chain for defined components in order to support business growth and secure a high level of QCD on existing projects. The role will require a high degree of flexible working in a dynamic and evolving environment. A key element will be effective communication and team working.
Responsibilities The main responsibility but not limited to, will be to implement and manage a supply chain for the Naval Industrial Steam Turbine business
Identify and build a supply chain capability for defined components inside the Naval Industrial Steam Turbines business to support the business requirements Take the overall responsibility of the defined commodities in terms of:
Supplier identification and qualification to support the business
Managing the suppliers to guarantee on time delivery, at desired cost and quality
Manage the supplier performance QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery)
Identify supply risks and mitigate it
Price negotiation as well as slot reservation in order to make sure supplier capacity to support the business
Implement & Manage GTC (General Terms and Conditions) with suppliers
Co-ordinate supplier and product qualification together with Quality, Engineering and R&D
Support the development of new parts according to PDQ process requirements
Support tendering process (price, slots, scope, etc.) for specific projects
Interface with R&D and Engineering in order to introduce smoothly design changes in the supply chain
Drive Design for Manufacturing together with R&D and Engineering
Deliver a competitive supply chain for materials, services and parts to support the Small Steam Turbine business
Take any other duty and responsibility as may be required by the Line Manager
Support Procurement activities base on the needs (PO placement, Order management, etc,)
Promote the interests and image of the company at all times
Behave according to GE’s Code of Ethics and Values
- Bachelor degree in Commercial and/ or Engineering, or equivalent qualification
- Sourcing / Procurement formal training
- Sourcing or Procurement experience
- Experience with defence material or power industry related products
