Role Summary/Purpose

The GE Avio ITC Leader, as part of the Global Operations Legal Shared Services, will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives.

Essential Responsibilities

In this role you will integrate and develop processes and lead major projects, that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning and contribute to the overall strategy, with particular focus on export compliance issues including improving compliance, auditing and delivery of training. As part of the Global Operations Legal Shared Services there may also be a requirement to become involved in other ITC projects across all GE business sectors.

  • Lead the development of internal controls, compliance plans and strategies to ensure business operations remain compliant with ITC rules while meeting operational objectives on a global basis.

  • Provide senior leadership (in GE Avio and GE Aviation) in the analyses, interpretation, development and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures related to relevant country specific export controls, technology transfer as well as the US export control requirements including the Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

  • Provide advice and training to business leaders and ITC professionals regarding compliance with international trade regulations.

  • Supervise and direct team resources. Ensure the team is appropriately resourced to meet business operational objectives and aligned with business priorities.

  • Ensure ITC policies and procedures are implemented across all site programs covering government reporting, record retention, licensing, tariff and valuation analysis and audit procedures.

  • Oversee auditing and the collection and reporting of key metrics to pulse the health of the ITC program.

  • Represent GE in official government inquiries related to international trade compliance.

  • Interface with business leaders on ITC issues and periodically report to senior leadership on the health of the Global ITC program.

  • Oversee compliance and performance of key vendors, as applicable.

  • Review and monitor regulatory changes and recommend applicable process improvements relative to site programs.

  • Work closely with the Global ITC leader and ITC Leader EMEA to implement strategic initiatives as required. Ensure they are fully up to speed on relevant issues that affect the GE Avio business.


  • An Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).

  • Significant experience with import/export regulations and import / export logistics.

  • Significant years of experience with Italian import/export agencies, including an active leadership role in government, consulting firm or business.

  • Ability to obtain an appropriate security clearance where required.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Italian and English.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Ability to simplify complex regulatory requirements into actionable business requirements and practices.

  • Team Management Skills
