The Senior Systems Engineer will help define the vision for our cutting edge, high performance machinery diagnostic and asset management products in the Oil & Gas and Power Generation Industries. In this role, you will rely on your superior technical experience and communication skills.
In the role of Senior Systems Engineer you will:
Guide all phases of system development and support for new product ideas. Lead teams beginning with the initial concept, through design and development, technical strategy, system architecture definition, requirements analysis, and trade-off studies
Ensure timely preparation, development and delivery of product design documents and written requirements for product team execution
Experience and expertise in multiple technology disciplines including sensors, controls, embedded FW; signal processing, communications, enterprise software
Demonstrated foundation of expertise in network fundamentals (routing, switching, TCP/IP, network security, etc.,) in large, secure environments
Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, and concepts
Clear and enthusiastic communicator to customers, users, and project teams to define, analyzes, and meets project goals. You will coordinate across project leadership, program management, development, test and customer representatives, creating a collaborative environment that focuses on the big picture. You will be a technical spokesperson for our product, conveying insight and confidence
Demonstrate genuine enthusiasm and passion for technology, its application to solve business problems and ensure requirements clarity is the best it can be
Participate in the definition of technological roadmaps for product solutions by analyzing evolving customer needs, technology trends, competitive market position, and various customer solution environments across market segments
Clearly articulate ideas verbally and in writing to senior leaders, and influence others without direct authority
Work towards a high-level vision, but understand the importance of details
Proactively identify and mitigate risks and define reasonable trade space from which the team can operate
Managing multiple concurrent projects will require strategic prioritization
Proactively determine use case scenarios and requirements, define your own tasks, and execute with little oversight
Accomplish program goals despite obstacles, ambiguity, changing requirements, and a fast-paced environment
Apply systems thinking to software, hardware, processes, people, and organizations
Be familiar with a requirements management tool similar to DOORs
Mentor and guide less experienced systems engineers, because you are motivated to improve our work environment and help others
Support and develop our technical culture by being engaged, intellectually curious, friendly, motivated to solve complex problems, and inspired to deliver superior products Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors’ degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university
Minimum 8 years of professional experience designing new products
Minimum 3 years of experience as a systems engineer or a technical systems analyst Desired Characteristics:
Master’s Degree and/or a PhD in a STEM field from an accredited college or university
Experience working with development teams using both the traditional waterfall process and the agile method
Experience working on geographically and culturally diverse teams in a matrix environment
Experience designing for an industrial environment
Strong judgment and problem-solving skills
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
Passion for current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities
