Job Description Summary

As an Advanced Lead Engineer for Thermal Systems Design, you will conduct thermal design, analysis, and test definition, execution, and processing in the GE Aerospace commercial aero engine development programs and externally funded research efforts. You will utilize heat transfer and fluid mechanics analysis tools and established design principles to propose thermal systems that meet program requirements. Potential components include heat exchangers, seals, and complex fluid delivery systems.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• As part of GE Aerospace's RISE program, lead the design, testing, and analysis of components needed for the engine’s thermal system, including heat exchangers, seals, or secondary air architectures, specifically in the context of the Open Fan technology maturation and demonstration programs.

• Lead technical projects, prioritize activities to deliver program objectives on time, while meeting cost and quality requirements.

• Represent the thermal systems design team in the coordination with other technical disciplines, with understanding of engine integration at the system level.

• Drive research and technology activities targeting next-generation applications, including planning of external funding proposals.

• Participate in and lead technical reviews support design best practices interfacing with the global GE Aerospace engineering team.

• Participate in problem solving and innovation initiatives.

• Identify improvement opportunities and apply Lean tools to remove waste.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with significant level of industrial experience in the field of thermal systems design.

• Strong understanding of the physics and principles associated with thermal systems.

• Proven track record in delivering on complex programs and ability to work in cross-functional global team in multi-cultural environments.

• Demonstrated ability to advance the technology state of the art and ability to generate innovative solutions.

• Fluency in English.

• Hands-on experience in thermal management, multi-phase fluids, computational fluid dynamics for thermal systems design.

• Experience in testing of thermal system components, including test planning, instrumentation, test execution, and data analysis.
