Role Summary:

The Service Sales Manager (SSM) for the Western USA region will be responsible for the growth of Grid Solutions service business within their assigned region and key accounts. This role requires a broad knowledge of high voltage transmission equipment, strong sales acumen, the ability to work directly with end users and/or through various sales channels to identify, qualify and secure opportunities. Western USA Region: WA, OR, ID, MT, ND. SD, NE, CA, NV, UT, CO, AZ, NM, HI and AK

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Service sales Manager - Western USA, you will be responsible for:

  • Orders Performance

  • Accountable to achieve service orders and margin targets for assigned accounts and or region by a blend of direct sales and collaboration with the extended North America Commercial Organization and Service Product Line Business Development Leaders. Performance to quarterly and yearly Orders and margin objectives are the core responsibility of this position.

  • Provide input to deal pricing strategy and competitive pricing levels

  • Develop and provide proposals to customers, working with the support of technical and proposal specialists.

  • Forecast orders using CRM tools (SPEAK / Salesforce) for their products / solutions / services in their assigned region / accounts.

  • Account Management

  • Support Region Sales Director in development and execution of service sales strategy for their assigned region.

  • Create sales plans for region/assigned accounts including, but not limited to opportunity development, competitive strategies and targets

  • Working collaboratively with Key Account Managers within assigned region to grow account market share and further GE’s reputation at these accounts. Contribute to key account plans as required

  • If present in assigned region, work with authorized channel partners (distributors, manufacturer representatives) to maximize market coverage

  • Direct call on specific accounts as required to meet business objectives

  • Support Service Business Development managers in achieving specific growth initiatives established by the product line.

  • Track and communicate market trends to/from the field including competitor data, and develop and lead effective counter-strategies Product & Market Expertise

  • Product & Market Expertise

  • Maintain up to date detailed knowledge of their product / services. Be able to present and discuss the services offered in terms which are relevant to customers

  • Help create viable service offerings, which meet customer needs effectively, while achieving optimum margin for GE,

  • Represent the company at relevant conferences and technical exhibitions to promote product/solution and company

  • Opportunity management

  • Identify and create new opportunities and work with Grid Solutions Key Account Managers and other channels as appropriate to continuously increase prospect funnel

  • Work closely with customer experts to influence specifications, vendor selection criteria to create competitive differentiation for GE.

  • Work closely with service product line and tendering specialists to develop value added, quality proposals for their product/solution/service opportunities to meet orders, sales and margin targets as well as to maximize customer satisfaction within assigned region and accounts.

  • Create and maintain opportunities in the applicable CRM tool (Salesforce/SPEAK).

  • Continuously educate and coach account team members on their product/service/solution strategy and offerings.

  • Collaborate with and leverage subject matter experts and other resources within GE Grid Solutions to build relationships and secure business

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and related work experienceELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:Ability and willingness to travel within assigned region by car and maintain a valid driver’s license Ability and willingness to travel by air up to 50% as requiredAbility and willingness to reside in the assigned sales region for Grid Solutions

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical

  • Previous Sales Experience in electrical utility market space

  • Previous experience in related service business

  • Strong knowledge of high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers

  • Knowledge of asset management concepts or having worked in an asset management role

  • Salesforce.com proficiency

  • Possess a general knowledge of high voltage power systems and equipment

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills when interfacing with internal and external customers

  • Able to influence and gain commitment at all levels of the organization

  • Proficient written, verbal, and phone skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Self-starter, ability to work remotely and achieve results with little direct supervision

  • Ability to work independently and within a team

  • Analytical skills, problem analysis / resolution abilities

  • Strong organizational skills
