Baker Hughes, a GE company has an opening for a Welding Engineer supporting Drilling Services at our facility in Oklahoma City, OK. AWS certified Welding Engineer for the downhole motor product line to support western hemisphere Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering team that will be established in Oklahoma City. The team will handle design and manufacturing related requests/issues/failures locally in close collaboration with the Product Development and Research teams in Celle, Germany. The role will involve a 6 – 12 months training on the job period in Germany working with the teams in Celle.
Functional responsibility for all welding and hardfacing processes on motors
Development of new manufacturing welding and hardfacing processes
Execution of Procedure Qualification Records
Overseeing of Welder Performance Qualifications
Support the Manufacturing on Root Cause Analysis
Support on cost reduction initiatives inside Manufacturing and Maintenance
Responsibility for documentation of processes and required welding qualifications
Support Maintenance on all welding and hardfacing related issues.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
AWS certification as Welding Engineer or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
2+ years Advanced technical experience in welding and machining processes for manufacturing and repair.
Experience with Hardfacing welding processes
Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills with respect to applied mechanics, Engineering design, and technology development.
Self-contained, self-motivated and structured to work within a worldwide functioning interdisciplinary team
Creativity and assertiveness
Self-driven, independent and structured working method in an interdisciplinary team
Practical experience in the above mentioned area of expertise gathered during internships, thesis and/or professional experience.
The position requires close collaboration with the Product Development and Research teams in Celle, Germany. Therefore the role will involve a 6 – 12 months training on the job period in Germany working with the teams in Celle.
Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Experience with welding and machining process within oilfield services products preferred
Experience with SolidWorks (CAD System).
