Role Summary/Purpose

The Software Release Manager is responsible for creating and/or updating, implementing and managing the release processes for the progression of code from planning, development and release. This role works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects, and strives to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying and updating software and environments

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work with leadership of a project, identify delivery target dates and determine how these integrate with the release schedule.

  • Manage expectations by establishing, maintaining and communicating a release schedule.

  • Oversees release plans and execution of release plans

  • Conduct release readiness reviews and ensure projects in a release are tracking to overall release schedule

  • Detailed understanding of the Change and Release Management processes

  • Coordinate release planning between different teams.

  • Follow up on Release artifacts including implementation and rollback plan

  • Initiate Change requests and follow up on approvals

  • Performs as the Scrum of Scrums, as required, to effectively lead the feature team to success by providing clear guidance on what to deliver, and working with the scrum masters on when and how to deliver through the prioritization and development of a well-groomed backlog.

  • Coordinates and drives execution with other scrum teams and program managers

  • Responsible for ensuring that development deliverables meet the “Definition of Done” for the stories

  • Identifies early and solves complex and ambiguous cross-functional integration problems leading the team to deliver per Program team commitments, including (but not limited to) completing functional goals, execution adjustments/iterations, process confusion, and cross-functional teamwork.

  • Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across the organization

  • Lead and coordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists

  • Ensures the team meets the quality metrics on code coverage and looks for opportunities to increase team progress on quality metrics


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 8+ years of project management experience along with established leadership.

  • ITIL Certification and/or PMP Certification a Plus

Eligibility Requirements:
