Role Summary/Purpose

The EHS Site Lead will provide direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

Essential Responsibilities

  • GE has confirmed it is exploring options for selling the Water & Process Technologies business. The plan to divest the business is a strategic decision that provides an opportunity to reposition the business for growth and further invest for long-term success. Water & Process Technologies will operate business as usual through this process and will continue to meet its commitments to its valued customers and employees. This includes hiring strong talent to help the business grow and be successful. GE is targeting to complete the sale of the business by mid-2017. *

Position will be based at the Oakville Facility

  • Be the “Site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Focal Point” and/or site management on various EHS issues

  • Initiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into the business

  • Record keeping and data management Inspect workplace activities, identify hazards and work with employees and management to determine corrective actions

  • Actively participate on EHS and related committees Manage EHS related projects Develop, implement and maintain EHS programs and procedures

  • Assist in implementation of EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance

  • Develop and maintain general knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements

  • Assist consultants and contractors on related EHS issues (including WSIB matters)

  • Administer compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems

  • Assist in conducting EHS education programs

  • Assist in issue resolution


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience with EHS systems) - Chemical Storage/Warehouse experience preferred

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside GE (regulatory agencies)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Established program management ability

  • Strong analytical skills Six Sigma training Knowledge of environmental regulations Computer skills, and presentation/training/Fastworks skills

  • Ability to work independently. Strong problem solving skills.
