Role Summary:

Avitas Systems is looking for a Senior Robotics and Autonomous Systems Architect to join its emerging inspections engineering team. You will work on multiple projects as a project leader or internal consultant and also work on highly complex projects that require in-depth domain knowledge or two or more specialized architecture areas.

Essential Responsibilities:

As a Senior Robotics and Autonomous Systems Architect you will work with GE Global Research

and GE Business teams to design and architect commercial grade robotics inspection solutions for

industrial assets.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, lead and grow new technology concepts withstrategic impact focused on robotics, autonomy, cyber-physical systems, and the Industrialinspection

  • Lead projects, relationship building, and the development of newautonomous and robotic systems technology

  • Interface with business leaders andprovide direction and guidance for technology roadmaps

  • Identify key technicalissues and focus resources to produce cutting-edge technical breakthroughs in the area of cyberphysical systems technology

  • Actively participate in design, architecture, anddevelopment efforts of robotic inspection solutions for industrial assets

  • Guiderobotics researchers on the principals of software design and architecture

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise system design, architecture and integration OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience in enterprise system design, architecture and integration

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in design and development of distributed cyber-physical systems, autonomoussystems, robotic systems, simulation environments, and human-robotinterfaces

  • Strong track record as a thought leader andinfluencer

  • Experience developing autonomy solutions for a diverse set of problems(e.g. planning, positioning, perception, etc.) and domains

  • Familiarity with corerobotics and autonomy concepts including path planning, kinematic and dynamic modeling ofrobots, perception, graphical simulation, and GUIs

  • Possess superior problemsolving skills, and independent decision making abilities, all while operating in an extremelydemanding, fast-paced team setting

  • Significant experience in C/C++/Python/Javaprogramming

  • Experience with the ROS or other robotics middleware and OpenCV,OpenCL, PCL, and CUDA

  • Experience in an industrial domain (e.g. oil & gas,energy, transportation, etc.)

  • Experience with embedded robotics platformsdeveloping online algorithms

  • Well connected with external thought leaders,technology providers, and users of robotic and autonomous systems

  • Experiencewith wireless sensor networks, and wireless communication protocols

  • Familiaritywith industrial control systems

  • Experience with Continuous Integration &Continuous Deployment (CI-CD)

  • Experience with Agile/SCRUMmethodologies

  • Demonstrated ability to convert high-level customer needs into atechnical development strategy

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Communicate effectively both in written and oral English

  • Self-motivated, innovative,willing to pursue new technical areas and capable of workingindependently

  • Reviews exceptions and makes recommendations to architecturalstandards at a domain level.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of business' structure(P&Ls) and the interplay of functions to support business goals; demonstrate knowledge ofthe business products, key processes, suppliers, customers andmarket/competitors.

  • Ensures understanding of issues and presents clearrationale.

  • Takes a systems perspective that inter-relates internal and externalfactors for planning. Envisions compares and contrasts multiple potential medium rangeoperational futures.
