Materials and Production Planning

The Materials Leader is responsible for production, scheduling and inventory management of materials in support of controls manufacturing and new product development. In this role, an individual will be asked to manage and direct the Planning and Purchasing team to solve business problems, execute objectives for the business, self and team, and assist in developing short and long term business goals for materials purchasing and scheduling for the Longmont manufacturing facility.
In the role of Materials Leader, you will:
Provide leadership in leading Materials team to meet business goals for on time delivery and inventory
Lead activities that encompass detailed manufacturing plans and scheduling for technical items such as procurement, electrical/mechanical assembly, test, quality assurance, and delivery
Work to control inventory levels & cycle times with internal/external suppliers
Coordinate with manufacturing team to drive variable cost productivity improvements
Interface with the manufacturing team for prioritization of shop load to meet customer demands
Manage the Planning team by providing input to schedules through cross-functional internal kick offs
Utilize lean manufacturing tools to improve material flow to best accommodate customer need dates
Manage the complete purchasing of turbine control projects from beginning to end
Collaborate with Plant Manager in setting realistic and challenging operational goals
Coordinate all production teams’ material status, production priorities, and delivery commitments
Coordinate with Strategic Sourcing to develop a plan to meet business deflation goals
Effectively communicate to external sources to drive deflation & improve material promise dates
Utilize manufacturing tools to best determine safety stock & service levels
Report out Inventory plan to Product Line leadership on a monthly basis
Mentor team members for professional growth
Provide training on material procedures and processes
Be responsible for Global Forecasting; This portion was added to the Materials Leader role to obtain forecasted sales information from the global sales team and compile this information to identify forecasted parts requirements (for GEEPI) and loading (for Salem). This is not just for Longmont but plants globally.
Be responsible for Cost of Quality; This is added to the Materials Leader role for control of stock parts in order to provide disposition/justification of obsolete or scrap parts and to convey upcoming estimates of reserves to finance.
Be responsible for Stocking Levels; Also added to this role to maintain/adjust stocking levels to meet the needs and demands of upcoming project loads (Longmont and globally) based on the Global forecast above.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum 5 years of experience in inventory management, shop operations, facilitation, and production control in a manufacturing environment, production planning, inventory management principles and practices, or materials management disciplines
- Ability and willingness to travel 5% of the time
