Buyer-Steam Power Systems
Location(s) Where Opening Is Available Malaysia
GE Steam Power Systems are expanding their procurement and buying team. We are currently looking for an experience buyer to manage the buying process for a given set of goods. In this capacity you would be responsible for applying sourcing policy, interface between supplier and entity with respect to specifications and budgets. You would demonstrate theoretical knowledge of the buying function as well as function skills and knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.
You will have a proven track record of purchasing and buying, working with tight deadlines within a close knit team environment.In this capacity you would be responsible for (but not limited to):
Place and follow-up on Purchase Orders (PO).
Manage relationships with suppliers for PO execution.
Manage problems and schedule changes.
Develops new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations. Balance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projects.
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to specify needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done.
Provides technical / commercial assistance to Commodity Buyers to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge. Actively participate in supplier performance reviews.
Provides advise to functional managers regarding projects, processes and procedures in the own field.
Contributes to project as a team member or leads small projects.
To be successful in this role, you would possess:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with at least 4 years of experience in Sourcing).
Additional 3 years of experience in Buying/Procurement.
The ideal person would demonstrate the following capabilities:
• Draw on their excellent communication skills, to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders as well as lead small teams on certain projects.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously as well as effective problem solving skills.
