Essential Responsibilities

This Role provides technical support and creative solutions to drive sales and business opportunities. He/she prepares technical proposals, supports engineering deliverables and engages in site inspections. He/she will utilize conceptual and critical thinking and the ability to determine applicability of GE technologies to various OEM and oOEM turbine configurations to provide customer specific solutions. He/she will have to interact actively with other teams within the Region, the Product Line Engineering and other organizations like Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, Field Service and Supply chain. This position will report into the PS Europe Steam Turbine Engineering team.

Prepare technical proposal for Steam Turbine CM&U (Conversions, modifications and upgrades) on legacy Alstom and/or oOEM technologies and define the necessary hardware scope, engineering cost and cycle to complete the upgrade

Work closely with Principal Engineers and other domain experts to develop completive offerings/customer solutions

Identify risk areas and address technical issues inherent with modifying various steam turbines types

Review customer specifications and ensure offering satisfies requirements and identify exceptions and/or clarifications

Participate in site inspections as required to define and optimize the proposed solution(s)

Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments

Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

Provide support to sales team for technical discussions with customer

Present technical solutions at user conference or similar forums

Continuously improve proposal basics with feed-back from execution and cost reduction actions

Ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals, enhancing the growth targets for the local market


Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

At least 5 years of experience in an engineering, field service and/or technical product position

Technical knowledge of legacy Alstom Steam Turbine fleet

Commercial awareness to also consider non-technical boundary conditions

Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

PC proficiency

Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment

Fluent in English and Turkish

Integrity: accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others

Desired Characteristics

Technical knowledge of oOEM Steam Turbine fleet

Experience in steam turbine design and manufacturing

Strong background and understanding of power plant cycle technology

Understanding of Steam Turbine operability

Working knowledge of steam turbine maintenance & inspection methods and repair solutions

Advanced Engineering Degree

Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills

Understands GE's products, capabilities and limitations in sufficient detail to be able to develop offerings that meet customer needs

Desire to go above and beyond basic day-to-day responsibilities

Ability and willingness to travel on short notice
