Role Summary/Purpose

This role has primary responsibility for research and planning as well as providing business advisory services regarding US Sales & Use (S&U) tax technical and compliance related matters for the GE Oil & Gas business.

Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Indirect Tax Manager you will:

  • Ensure that GE Oil & Gas fully complies with applicable S&U tax laws with the highest integrity

  • Provide strategic direction involving S&U tax matters arising from mergers, acquisitions, integrations, new product introduction, contracts, and programs to senior tax management, finance, and commercial teams

  • Initiate and direct tax research and planning to develop tax strategies that minimize GE Oil & Gas S&U tax liabilities

  • Monitor proposed S&U tax legislation and alert senior tax leadership of impact on GE Oil & Gas

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure that (sales and purchasing) systems correctly determine and calculate US sales and use taxes

  • Evaluate existing processes, procedures and internal controls to ensure S&U tax process simplicity, effectiveness and compliance with all State and Local regulations

  • Recommend quarterly and annual S&U tax reserve provisions and required disclosures

  • Collaborate with Corporate Tax to monitor preparation and filing of all S&U tax returns

  • Collaborate with and assist Corporate Tax in the conduct of S&U tax examinations by state taxing authorities

  • Support Tax Processes & Technology team on system requirements to ensure compliance with S&U tax laws and regulations

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 8 years of indirect tax experience in a major accounting firm, law firm or multi-national company

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 35%of the time, as required
