Role Summary:

This key role is responsible to position GE Life Sciences within the selected customer segment & be recognized as the provider of a complete scientific workflow solution focused around protein separation, purification, identification, characterization through to kinetics and cellular impact and thus to develop opportunities for the business to obtain maximum synergy from the company focus & structure.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Represent OneGE Life Sciences and act as a primary customer point of contact in all allocated accounts and in the territory

  • Building relationships, maximize business opportunities for all GE Life Sciences products and services

  • Prospecting for new customers and business in the territory

  • Growing and maintaining the existing customer portfolio, and qualifying new leads to maintain identified business to support a balanced sales funnel for future sales

  • Generating proposals, preparing sales quotations, initiating and planning customer visits at all levels of the customer organization and working with the product sales specialists in demonstrating the breadth and range of One Life Sciences capabilities on in assigned accounts

  • Sales negotiation and deal closure at the customer, interfacing with all key buying influencers such as direct users of the products, but also department heads and CXO level personal as appropriate

  • Negotiate master agreements and contracts, including terms and conditions

  • Facilitating tender and URS responses to customers from the territory, in conjunction with product sales specialist

  • Ensuring to bring relevant GE Life Sciences subject matter experts to the accounts to satisfy customer needs, to promote GE solutions and to meet expected business objectives

  • Growing and developing revenue at expected sales margins, whilst using the breadth of resources available such as leasing and GoldSeal

  • Working with consumables distribution partners to maximize revenue from the territory for GE Life Sciences consumables products

  • Develop and maintain a full understanding of the One Life Sciences value proposition and a high-level knowledge of competitive products and services

  • Achieve annual and quarterly goals of multiple order and revenue targets through accurate monthly and quarterly forecasting, by prioritizing selling time to generate sales volume, through territory penetration and opportunities prioritization

  • Maintaining satisfactory after-sales relationships and development of long-term customer relationships coupled with the ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities that immediately satisfy customer needs

  • Communication of current market intelligence back to the business, along with filed concerns, issues and requirements

  • Providing leadership in market analysis and development/ execution of strategies and action plans to drive product sales, consistent with the GE Life Sciences overall strategy

  • Following all applicable GE policies, procedures and operating mechanisms. Proactively participate in company initiatives depending on organizational needs and as directed by management

  • Ensuring knowledge of and compliance with Quality, Regulatory, Integrity and company policies Qualifications/Requirements:

  • University level degree in protein sciences or related discipline or an equivalent qualification and experience gained working in the Life Science Industry

  • Training in sales, the management of key accounts, and communication techniques

  • A proven track-record of achieving and exceeding sales targets, and a desire to grow new business

  • Advanced background/training in and understanding of Life Sciences products

  • Experience in selling in the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical or R&D markets is a plus

  • Experience understanding customer needs and business drivers and using this knowledge to develop account plans and strategies (knowledge of the existing account areas would be advantageous)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including, team working skills and good communication skills

  • Persistence and tenacity in developing prospects and customers, and able to close business

  • Strong presentation, analytical and customer service skills

  • Self-starter able to manage time and organize and prioritize workload, especially as an Account Manager is expected to be in the field most of the week (80 % of work time) making customers calls and recording contacts
