Role Summary/Purpose

In this role, you will support GE’s “Brilliant Factory” initiative by defining control system requirements to interconnect various pieces of manufacturing equipment. These systems, MES / SCADA, will provide real-time shop floor analytics and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), machine health monitoring. Automatic identification and data collection will drive predictive maintenance, in order to bring our production facility into the digital age.

Essential Responsibilities

In addition, you will:

  • Provide technical direction for Brilliant Factory development

  • Introduce and develop new processes and technologies and train BF Operations Technology team members and plant operations teams to utilize and support

  • Define standards and processes for shop floor digitization that meet the business’ present and future needs and facilitates rapid and repeatable deployments

  • Manage supplemental contract resources when required

  • Manage budget and project financials and contracts associated with programs or initiatives

  • Provide status updates at all levels of the organization according to the communication plan

  • Coordinate with GET BF IT team in developing solutions and meeting business objectives

  • Collaborate with resources at other GE businesses to share and leverage learnings, developments, and best practices

  • Organize training and collaboration material and sessions

  • Be accountable for System commissioning & startup

  • Be accountable for instrumentation & controls wiring design

  • Be responsible for PLC & HMI programming

  • Document all processes


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing role

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with PLC code-writing


  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • Six Sigma or equivalent quality training

  • Machine Tool Maintenance, Electrical—Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and repair a wide range of large and small machine tools, lathes, drill presses, milling machines, planers, hydraulic presses, punch presses, robots, etc.

  • Knowledge of mechanical repairs

  • Knowledge of common pc tools, Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.

  • Familiar with AutoCAD

  • Knowledge and understanding of NEC as applied to industrial facilities and hazardous locations

  • Familiar with power distribution up to 480VAC
