Role Summary/Purpose

Be part of the team that delivered GE’s efficiency World Record. As a thermal design engineer, apply advanced technology to increase gas turbine efficiency and bring power to the people with fewer emissions. Design components and optimize cooling flow usage in a cross-functional team using advanced manufacturing, high-fidelity analysis, and data-analytics. Leverage the world’s largest gas turbine factory and most advanced full scale test facility to improve gas turbine design and operation.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for compressor aerodynamic design and analysis for new product designs as well as support uprate and life extension programs of current machines

• Work effectively within cross-functional teams for design, test and implementation activities

• Provide evaluation of design changes affecting performance and reliability. Specification and technical supervision of turbine component test programs. Rigorously apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology to all work effort, and ensure that designs follow NPI processes and practices

• Recommend design improvements and advanced design concepts to maintain product leadership


  • BS in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience primarily in aerodynamic design of turbomachinery components

  • Thorough knowledge of analytical and experimental fluid mechanics

  • MS/Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering

  • Experienced with 3D CFD analysis for turbomachinery

  • Laboratory and field test experience

  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

  • Solid oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
