Essential Responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to ensure that the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) maintains regulatory and contractual compliance with evolving and increasing government requirements.

Compliance is necessary in advancing the mission of the Advanced and Special Programs business including solving challenging customer needs and promoting advanced technology and avionics system solutions for a variety of customers.

You'll be responsible for maintaining a current, in-depth and effective level of technical familiarity with the IT asset configurations, IT asset operations and maintenance of assigned IT assets as well as with company standard and customer-mandated configuration and compliance tools.

You'll also be responsible for regular monitoring of IT assets according to a prescribed menu and schedule is expected in order to maintain configuration compliance, current malicious code protection, acceptable patch levels and overall system compliance.

You will be accountable for the following functions:

  • Plan, research and recommend IT asset procurements, (hardware, software, firmware, etc.) based on project needs and regulatory limitations

  • Configure IT assets per applicable standards using prescribed tools

  • Assist in IT asset certification and contribute applicable IT asset details to technical document preparation

  • Research operating system and application software for risk acceptability, procure software by program-acceptable means and maintain current and compliant software licensing and patching.

  • Monitor system operations, maintain system health, create and maintain user accounts as directed, recommend and perform system modifications as needed and ensure data is secure, maintains its integrity and is available when needed.This position requires intermediate to advanced level experience in configuring, certifying and supporting common PC operating systems, network configurations and applications in order to achieve government-mandated compliance and accreditation. Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a computer science related field of study from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in IT system administration with some background in formal certification and accreditation requirements and methods.) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to be cleared to higher levels in a timely manner as required

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 15% of time

  • Ability to respond to after-hours events

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment Desired Characteristics:

  • Security + or higher computer security certification is extremely desirable.

  • Professional certifications in current Windows operating systems also extremely desirable.

  • A strong support and regulatory mindset with a proven ability to be agile and operate in a highly dynamic and fast-paced team environment

  • Professional training and certification in a computer science related field or professional certifications in current Windows operating systems

  • Master’s Degree in a computer science related field of study from an accredited university or college

  • Critical thinking skills to resolve and manage complex technical issues.

  • Demonstrated success in supporting teams to successful outcomes in a matrixed organization.

  • Oral and written communication skills appropriate for a professional environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interpret instructions and execute successfully.

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to be cleared to higher levels in a timely manner as required.

  • Experience working DoD classified programs.

  • Prior experience working with government configuration and compliance tools (SCAP / STIGS / NESSUS

  • Information System Security Officer experience desired

  • Prior knowledge or experience with system security plan content

  • Prior experience configuring and supporting Windows PCs and other IT assets in a classified environment.

  • Prior experience working with government configuration and compliance tools (SCAP/STIGS/NESSUS).

  • Information System Security Officer experience desired.
