Role Summary/Purpose

The Modernization Manufacturing Leader will provide support for the execution of Modernization programs at GE's facilities and partner sites worldwide. In this role, you will work closely with the manufacturing and/or supplier teams to provide technical guidance and manufacturing expertise to the implementation of locomotive modernizations.

Essential Responsibilities

In addition, you will be:

Responsible for delivering productivity improvement by maximizing the reuse of existing components and simplifying manufacturing processes to reduce material usage and labor cost. You will also work closely with the Program Management, Engineering, and Technical Leadership teams to develop satisfactory program improvements for future projects. This role will require close coordination within GE’s manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and fulfillment organizations

• Act as the primary interface for Modernization execution between Manufacturing, Sourcing and Materials team to support the Ft. Worth factory

• Provide technical support and coaching to factory personnel for the disassembly, assembly and test of locomotive modernization programs

• Develop processes aimed at safely and accurately performing operations and repairs to locomotives as required

• Work closely with engineering to drive resolution of specification issues and production changes as identified by the Product Manager

• Identify productivity opportunities through appropriate re-use of core materials and document the changes to Bills of Material as required

• Identify opportunities to reduce investments needed by facilities to implement mew modernization programs

• Coordinate with Engineering and Sourcing to leverage Used Serviceable Material in place of new material to reduce costs of Modernization projects and kits

• Drive implementation plans for future Modernization projects in the manufacturing facilities

• Interface regularly with the Program Management team to review future proposals and ensure that proposals do not exceed the ability of the team to execute

• Improve processes and streamline improvements to reduce production lead times and complications associated with materials required at less than standard lead time schedules

• Lead project team through a regular system of milestone reviews to identify and manage risks, monitor operational performance against the agreed timescales, and instigates corrective action, where appropriate

• Ensure project details are properly documented to provide evidence of compliance and simplify implementation of similar projects in the future

• Provide additional project and/or material support to the Modernizations team as required

Qualifications/Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Locomotive Repair Services, Maintenance, or Overhaul

• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing projects or programs
