The Lead Materials Buyer will be responsible for all day to day activities focused on the procurement and delivery of assigned material and suppliers. This includes but is not limited to completing all MRP requirements, NCRs, MRB issues etc. In this role, you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day short-term objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
In the role of Materials Buyer you will:
Interface with Production, Sales, and suppliers to schedule the receipt of material to meet production demands
Be responsible for material scheduling, updating delivery dates, procurement follow-up and expediting suppliers
Evaluate and drive resolution on all manufacturing material quality and supply issues
Assure that the shop has the necessary materials and configuration records to meet required production levels
Identify and react to material plans that do not meet customer requirements
Be responsible for assigned commodities / suppliers to meet the requirements of the business
Provide coordination and leadership in procurement activities for determined commodities
Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential risks, obtain quotes, and plan programs to meet business needs
Evaluate excess on-order items for team to ensure team is managing inventory levels and costs within OP plan by eliminating SMI items

Be responsible for determining overdue risks as it relates to Parts orders for the business on a quarterly basis, identifying key drivers and managing plans to mitigate those risks
Lead daily Parts production meeting and monitor supply/demand situation to ensure good order fulfillment performance
Maintain and analyze data to measure performance, and identify inefficient operations as it relates to invoice holds, supplier receipts, OTD, and any other critical items
Be responsible to use metrics to develop a strategic plan for the department for process and procedure improvements.
Lead projects/initiatives defined by Materials Manager, outside of daily Buyer deliverables
Any job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 7 years of experience in a Material Planning / Purchasing capacity)
Minimum 3 years of experience in production control or planning, supervision, sourcing and/or material control environment Eligibility Requirements:
Work in a normal office environment within a climate controlled manufacturing facility with occasional work performed on the shop floor, production environment subject to minimal weather related variations
Work with occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending, and other physical activities within an office environment Desired Characteristics:
Prior experience utilizing planning systems (Oracle / SAP)
