Role Summary:

The Test Lab Technician will be responsible for final inspection and testing of high voltage switchgear, including a variety of electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electrical tests to ensure unit functions according to specifications and standards or to determine cause of unit failure.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Test Lab Technician, you will:

  • Test functional performance of circuit breakers, including electrical and mechanical functions, leak tests, high voltage tests, and visual and dimensional inspections Perform mechanical adjustment operations on circuit breaker components, linkages, and operating mechanisms

  • Compare results with specifications, records test data, and prints test results

  • Perform electrical trouble-shooting and minor repairs, including the replacing of defective wiring and electrical components, and mechanical repairs

  • Frequently required to support production during repair procedures

  • Analyze test results on defective units and reports on nonconforming products

  • Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems

  • Review test reports from other test technicians and maintains the test reports files

  • Calibrate test instruments according to specifications

  • Perform maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical test equipment, gas handling equipment, and test facilities

  • Ensure the product will meet customer requirement in regards for finished goods

  • Document work performed by filling out proper forms

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent

  • Minimum of one year related experience in quality control testing or electrical panel wiring

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules (1st & 2nd Shift)

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as IEEE and IEC test standards, inspection and test procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as IEEE and IEC circuit breaker and test standards, inspection and test procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
