Role Summary/Purpose

The Boiler Product Line Project Manager is responsible for fulfilling on behalf of the regions he/she is supporting. This PL Project Manager will be accountable for working collaboratively with the regional team and other Boiler Product Line team members, as well as other functions as needed. He / she will manage complex projects; deliver on project management operational excellence through alignment to the global processes and standards of the Project Management Office (PMO) Function.

Essential Responsibilities

In addition you will:

  • Primary customer contact for the duration of each project wing-to-wing from project start through handover to the customer and closeout. . Resolve specification issues, handle correspondence, provide periodic updates, ensure customer satisfaction, and negotiate / coordinate with staff as appropriate,

  • Manage matrix team of 20-30 employees covering the functions of engineering, supply chain, site management and field services supported by a other subject matter experts and controls functions,

  • Manage project risk issues including receivables, claims, contract changes, change management, margin enhancement, and effective project closeout,

  • Lead project team through a regular system of contract reviews to identify & manage risks, monitor operational performance against the agreed timescales, and instigates corrective action where appropriate. Responsible for all financial aspects of project management including the regularly review costs, invoicing, and cash collection as per operating rhythm in alignment with regional and PL PMO leaders,

  • Champion of all aspects of service quality & technical delivery of all projects,

  • Ensure compliance with all corporate commercial practices and standards. Be a role model for the GE beliefs,

  • Responsible for coaching, training & education of all direct employees in the principles of project management,

  • Support regions in the preparation of tenders,

  • Participate in specific tasks, contribution in cross-functional initiatives, in alignment with the PMO leader.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical) from an accredited university. Further qualification such as master in engineering or business management (MBA) appreciated (or equivalent knowledge/experience),

  • Major experience in Services for Power Generation in the domain of Project Management, customer facing roles ideally related to Boiler Product or EPC projects,

  • Significant experience in a management role, either line management or in a matrix setup,

  • Willingness and ability to travel globally 30% of the time, readiness for temporary relocation (up to 6 months),

  • Due to our international footprint, excellent communication skills in English are mandatory, additional languages are welcome.

  • Familiar with modern project management techniques & tools,

  • Experience working with global teams / partners, strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities,

  • Strong leadership and Influencing skills, based on strong oral and written communication and presentation skills,

  • Experience in contract management, execution on EPC turnkey basis, ability to negotiate contract terms, changes and claims,

  • Understanding of business and project financials (orders, sales, CM, OM, Pacing, Margin Review, Cash),

  • Demonstrated success in prior project or site management (and experience by assignment to site) involving financial responsibility, experience in complex project management execution,

  • Contractual experience / Negotiating skills,

  • PMP or equivalent certification,

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent quality beneficial,
