Role Summary/Purpose

"The Commercial Staff Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization. Involved in long-term planning. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within functional areas area of expertise.

· Responsible for orders, sales, and margin for the assigned segment within the organization

Essential Responsibilities

·Responsible for all aspects of contract management, including proposal development, risk management and mitigation, specification compliance, scope development, transactional pricing, customer negotiations, customer communications and issue resolution

· Own all platform proposal processes across the Core, the strategy development process with the country Sales team, the risk management process, the advance release process, and the third-highest level of deviation authority in the region

· Lead a team of commercial operations managers across the country

· Restructure the team to support commercial operations for the combined Transactional and Contractual organizations

· Develop strategies to build a self-standing commercial operation center of excellence in the region for the multitude of gas segments

· Drive process consistency across the Core portfolio with special emphasis on Policy 5.0 requirements and guidelines

· Employ consistent deal review processes with the Region Sales team and local risk teams

· Refine the proposal processes across the Core business, with special emphasis on Lean opportunities for improvement and waste reduction

· Manage regional gas platform operating metrics, centered around offerings and individual productivity, to measure proposal through-put, yield, cost, and efficiency

· Drive an improved OTR turnover process to ensure proper control of contract flow-down requirements

· Responsible for the following metrics: orders, sales, and Margins, price enhancement, compliance with Policy 5.0, and proposal metrics


"· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

· At least 5 additional years of commercial experience with the ability to structure creative deals for customer solutions, negotiate contracts, and deal effectively with customers

Desired Characteristics

"· Prior experience in sales, commercial finance, contract negotiation and execution is preferred

· Strong business acumen

· Knowledge of how transactions affect the business model (both GE and customer)

· Knowledge of legal aspects and implications of contracts, terms and conditions, negotiation, etc to allow constructing contracts with minimizing risk

· Industry knowledge / competitive landscape understanding at a transaction level

· Ability to influence and lead cross functional teams

· Six Sigma training is preferred

· Strong oral and written communication skills

· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
